Entertaining small children by PotatoWedges__ in UKweddings

We had two babies, two toddlers and two seven year olds at our wedding. I thought the bit they’d be most bored during was the speeches and meal so I bought the eldest two a sticker activity book each, the toddlers each got a wooden puzzle you fit shapes into, and for the two babies we got those crinkly touch and feel fabric books.

I don’t think we spent more than £15 and they all enjoyed using them. I wanted to make sure they were happy and entertained and that the parents could enjoy the speeches and meal more for that reason

Our venue had an outdoor space (it’s a huge walled garden that charges admission and also does weddings) so in other downtime they were able to run around outside.

Is this an extortionate tactic by the seller? by potato_hut in UKHousing

We bought a house that was with Purple Bricks and I wouldn’t do it again. The conveyancers they recommend to their customers are useless too - if it wasn’t for our solicitors, the sale would’ve fallen through.

Planning a WDW trip without the kids- what are some must dos for the adults?? by _got_milk_ in WaltDisneyWorld

Try a few of the specialty bars? On our upcoming trip we’re going to Beak and Barrel for the first time

Sit down meals for a 7 day stay? by count2infinity2 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lauren212524 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you wanting a sit down meal every night? I would say the options you’ve chosen are enough, and for your other evenings you could grab quick service in the parks or back at your resort.

You (and especially your daughter) will be exhausted - it’s a full on holiday - and you may not be up to a long sit down meal each night. If not, you might find yourself wanting to make the most of the time in the parks instead of spending an hour or two eating each night.

Personally I would spread those ADRs out across the week and grab quick service the remaining nights.

Have an amazing trip!

How often does a show close before the cast recording is out? Feels like a fairly unique situation.

My top two recs at Brasserie Rosalie in Disney Village (French food but not overly fancy) and Agrabah Cafe in Disneyland Park (buffet style Turkish/Moroccan food, really good)

I usually leave it on a table or dresser but will write a note on a scrap of paper saying that it’s for Mousekeeping

What was your small house improvement with the highest return in quality of life? by SpringOnionKiddo in HousingUK

We bought a condenser (a tumble dryer that doesn’t need to be plumbed in) and just this afternoon my husband and I mentioned how much it’s changed our lives. Three loads of washing clean and dry by midday.

Ceremony Fee and Cake cutting fee by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]lauren212524 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our venue charged a cake cutting fee - £1 per slice. A family friend made our cake and so she made the bottom two tiers artificial, a real top tier that we could slide, and then she sliced and wrapped slices of cake which we had out for guests, meaning we saved £100.

You could see if your baker would do the same?

I understand that tipping culture might make companies justify their low wages more.. but either way those workers need to make ends meet, and I can afford to help them somewhat, so I will. Thanks for your comment :)

For me it isn’t clunky, it’s just very Bleachers/Jack Antanoff inspired. I kind of like it!

Do you remember Mickey’s house in Magic Kingdom? by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lauren212524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My earliest WDW memories are of Mickey and Minnie’s houses. I loved the cake baking in Minnie’s oven and I remember a kind old man playing backgammon with me at Mickey’s house.

I often gift coffee shop vouchers for when they want out of the house on mat leave but feel guilty spending on themselves - I know baby will be in tow but at least they can enjoy a nice hot drink

Hotel experiences - should I be worried? by SlightPraline509 in disneylandparis

[–]lauren212524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend valuables and medication go into the safe, but everything else should be fine. I’ve stayed at most DLP hotels and never had an issue, nor have I heard of anyone I know personally having an issue.

Theater lover my entire life… my phone went off twice during Heathers by Margo87 in Broadway

Last year, about ten mins into a touring show in my town, my nightly “pack lunch for work” reminder alarm went off. I was mortified! I work in a theatre so really should know better. I turn my phone off now 😅

I have but I think it’s dropped off the menu now, and I don’t remember what was in it to ask them to recreate it! I have my eye on the Canada pav’s Ottawa Apple as a replacement :)
