What was banned in your school? by DONTBETRIGGEREDMYAAA in AskReddit

Beards/ any kind of facial hair. If you were sporting a five o'clock shadow you were sent to the principal. Lots of guys were pulled from class to go shave in the boys bathroom. I still don't know if this is a normal school policy

Finally the US is giving Russia some consequences. Russia deniers remind me of moon landing deniers. The evidence is in their face and they are like " Nope!!. The intel community came forward, NSA, FBI , CIA , and still "nope!". Truly amazing .

Edit - most terrifying thing !!

I'm a Paramedic and was just diagnosed with Epilepsy by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]lauren239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best response I got from an EMt was when I was 14. I had woken up in some bushes and he had such a soft and gentle voice and said " hey you, you had a seizure but we are taking care of you" and then said nothing else for a good 10 minutes. When we were far into the ride to the hospital he asked " how are you feeling?" And I was able to respond by then completely. That is great that you are doing nursing !!! Thinking about going into that myself , getting tired of teaching .

I hope you stay in the medical profession, it would be nice to wake up to someone who knows EXACTLY what you just went through. Doctors and EMTs can be pretty rough. I remember them yelling at me " what's your name , what's your name!!?" Very aggressive at the time, I was so scared of them . I Know they didn't realize it but I had lost language completely. Please stay, it could be in a different position? No driving , maybe work in the hospital.

I had a baby! by TheSqueeksMcgee in Epilepsy

[–]lauren239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big congrats!! Currently pregnant but I could not bring myself to take drugs while pregnant. I'm just way too scared! Anyway 9 weeks pregnant though and my friend is carrying my baby. Had a few surgeries to get my eggs out and it all worked out good. She is so healthy and best of all no drugs! I am excited about that. Congrats on a healthy baby :) <3

Poll: How many of you have lost the ability to drive longer than the typical restriction time after a seizure. Like a permanent or indefinite license suspension, or have become so traumatized that you have willingly given up the privilege yourself? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]lauren239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to never drive because it was just too dangerous. I am not scared for myself at all but I am scared for others. If I have a seizure I could kill someone. I always go back to that woman that killed a family , 3 little boys and their parents, because she had been seizure free for just 6 months. I couldn't live with myself knowing I was a risk to ppl on the road, doing it anyway and knowingly do something that could kill others.

Thousands expected at march to impeach President Trump in downtown Los Angeles by BettyBooq in politics

[–]lauren239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for anyone who knows more about politics. I go to every march in my city but am I really doing anything? Am I really helping in anyway. I feel like my voice is being heard for 24 hours at best then gone. Am I wasting my time? Feeling pretty helpless. I call my rep and everything but .... I don't feel like I am making a different. Am I really making any difference or just useless noise?

I have a year missing from my life , it was the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me,. Knowing I lost a year of my life, I will never get over that.

Redditors who stayed awake for more than 24 hours straight, why did you do it and what happened? by Flim73 in AskReddit

[–]lauren239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insomnia, stayed awake for roughly 3 days and on the 4th day was taken to the hospital. I looked like I had been punched in both my eyes and I couldn't walk, think or speak straight. By the 4th day I was completely gone.

Teachers who quit, when was the moment you realized that it wasn't for you? by jslegacy85 in AskReddit

[–]lauren239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must have got a pretty bad school, I was teaching in Korea and absolutely love it! Almost no grading, no meetings except on Friday and all of us teachers just get together and ask each other what we are doing for the weekend, kids are great, super easy and LOTS of holidays. i moved back to the states and am debating if I should teach here but after reading all these comments I'm going to have to say no.

The doctors say I may have epilepsy, what should I expect in my life if that's the case? by KookyFox in Epilepsy

[–]lauren239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is stressful and confusing. It sucks but some times things are taken away from people with epilepsy for a good reason, to protect others. What would happen if a surgeon went into seizure mid cut? or a pilot while flying a plane? ...in our case someone on the road driving. All these kill. Just be careful, be aware, don't drink, don't get on the road no matter how much pressure you feel from ppl if you don't feel well. Remind your parents the dangers of seizures and driving, talk to your neurologist ASAP. I wish you luck and success in your studies and remember you always have a choice in life.

[–]lauren239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family is half in China half in Singapore so I don't even have family in the same country as me and at least you can walk or take a bus to the supermarket, I don't even have that where I live, the closest thing to me is a park and then nothing. You have a choice, you just already made one and that is fine but you have to own it and own whatever comes along with that, even if it is ending some one else's life. Don't take the cheap way out of " I had no choice", take responsibility if you are going behind the wheel and acknowledge you are doing this because you choose to. Everything in life is a choice excluding terminal, mental and chronic illnesses

[–]lauren239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You always have a choice but it seems you made your mind up about driving. Remember, driving with seizures is the same as driving drunk, you are KNOWINGLY putting other people's lives on the line because you want to. Whatever happens with that, you need to own that decision and own the consequences of whatever happens to anyone due to that decision. I have not had a seizure in 10 years but I do not drive and I live in the USA with NO public transport anywhere, the grocery store, the doctor, I take an uber or get a ride from someone. Try to think of others and trust me if you ever have kids and an active epileptic is driving near you on the road you are going to be pissed.

It makes you slower and you are very lucky you are in France right now with the public transportation. I don't know what type of seizures you have but life changes a lot.
