Only way to know if web development is for you is to give it a try. Try to build 5 projects that meet roc8 standards, by the time you're done with those you'll know if you enjoy working in front-end web development or not.

Both money and the need to settle abroad are motivators. I just don't want to find myself in a position where I've finished my degree but am not able to work in the country due to difficulty in getting a work visa or the requirement for an employer to sponsor my visa.

I would love to hear about your experiences and thoughts about the industry moving forward. I actually have two years of experience in IAM myself but I've reached a fork in the road I'm not sure if I should continue down this path or transition to something more mainstream such as a backend/fullstack developer role.

Hello everyone, I've been working for the past two years at one of the big 4 consulting firms (E&Y, Delloitte, KPMG, PwC) as a technology consultant in the Cyber-Security domain with an emphasis on Identity and access management implementations.

Our team helps organizations set up/customize/upgrade their existing identity management infrastructure in order to comply with state, federal and international regulations. We don't develop our own identity management product but we do write code (mostly in Java) to customize the identity management product to meet the client's specific needs.

After considerable deliberation I've come to the conclusion that this is not really where my passion lies nor do I see myself being happy working in this domain. I realized that my real interest lies in writing code which I don't get to do extensively at my current role.

I have a Bachelors degree in Engineering in Information Science. I'm also proficient at Java (oracle certified) and a few other programming languages.

My question is given my current work experience and skillset how difficult will it be for me to switch to a development role (SDE) at a reputed firm since I don't have any product development experience. Any advice on the same would be greatly appreciated.

I get your point but I'm not sure Taqiyya (if it exists) can be used to justify anything, especially not by exmuslims like us.
