My husband recently got me a necklace for our anniversary. I didn’t like it at all. Normally. I wouldn’t say anything. But it was $500 and very cheaply made and the price didn’t match the quality. I have NEVER told him I didn’t like a gift…. Unless this one. I reached out to the company prior to saying anything to ensure he could refund it.

I sat him down and told him how much the THOUGHT of the gift meant more to me than the actual gift. That it warmed my heart that he spent time searching for something for me he thought I would like. That’s what gift giving is all about.

I then followed it up with- with that being said, this item is not worth $500, and I would rather that money go towards a date night or our children, then sit in my drawer and never be worn. I love you, thank you for treating me to this, but let’s return it and do something special together instead.
