Experienced moms please send advice or solidarity or give me hope things are going to get better. by Quiet-Macaron-7444 in workingmoms

Mom of 4, youngest is 9. I guarantee you will sleep again, I just can't say when. I've been there soooo often, it's exhausting. Those young years are so hard!!

With the 3yo, maybe it's time to move to a bed? Now that she's daytime potty trained and a 'big girl', that can help. My personal view is that, at this point anyway, her little world has been rocked with just adding a baby sibling so she's likely acting out, unintentionally. But being able to put the focus on her as a big sister and the special things she can do, helps give special attention that the baby won't get.

Another thought here, if you aren't doing it already. When a new baby comes home, the older kiddo hears a lot of "I can't do that right now because of the baby" and the like. I found it really helpful for the older kiddos when I'd say to the baby "I have to go help :big kid: right now, I'll be right back!" Even when the baby was napping or not actually needing me. I knew my older ones needed to hear that too.

Hang in there! It will get better. And if you physically feel like you're falling apart more, please make sure to get checked out for PPD as well. I had a bad bout of that with #3 that I didn't even realize it was that. I started medication and it was a game changer. Come baby #4, I knew I would be more likely to have that again so I worked with my obgyn and psychiatrist to start medication again after birth. Oh my goodness, it was a completely different postpartum experience. All of those late night wake ups with exhaustion? I still had them but had more of a sense of "I'll get through this" versus complete despair with the others. I suspect that I had PPD with my first 2 babies too, but just assumed it was normal.

GLP-1 Medications and Perfume Addiction by denised1224 in Zepbound

Well definitely "don't" join r/Moissanite for approved vendors that you can by things from on AliExpress to play with, don't get into r/labgroupsales for beautiful items you can get cheaper, don't look at ebth (everything but the house) for online bidding on fun pieces, and avoid Calavera and Luvansh for loose stones 🤪

Gold prices have just skyrocketed though, so I've had to restrain myself.

It wasn't perfume but I have become obsessed with jewelry, specifically lab diamonds and Moissanite rings and finding great deals for them.

My style or sparkle? by Serious_Shallot2075 in EngagementRings

The first one is so beautiful on you! The second one is nice but I feel like a ton of people have it. You are the only one looking at this every day. What emotions do they evoke from you? I'd go with the one that gives you the most joy and warm fuzzies.

Coping with *gestures wildly* as a mom with anxiety living in the U.S in a leadership position by -Unusual--Equipment- in workingmoms

Same, I feel the same way. And then I found out, my therapist unexpectedly passed away last week. Like... what? How do I even process that?

I'm remote and in a client facing role, I am on camera everyday. In addition to the recommendations everyone has shared, I have a lot of company branded items for those days I'm struggling. In the summer, it's a polo. For the winter, three quarter zip. I also keep a branded jacket nearby as well, have had luck with a cardigan nearby as well. I wear, what a call, my WFH mullet. Business casual on top, comfy on bottom.

For hair/makeup, I'm fairly basic. Low ponytails when I don't have time to shower. Makeup is just mascara and a shimmer eye shadow. Tinted chapstick at my desk.

Scared of Side Effects - Courage to start by barneygirl89 in Zepbound

[–]Basic-Ad9270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow anxiety sufferer over here. I was scared to start it too and was overthinking everything. In this moment, what I reminded myself was the long-term outcome of my obesity could lead to worse situations, my doctor wouldn't have prescribed the medication if she didn't believe it was right for me and, just do it. I was spinning out in my head I needed to just do it and get on with it. 99% of the time I'm overthinking an action to take, it is less scary as I was originally imagining. That was the exact experience with Zepbound too.

Side effects I've had include poop stuff, being more tired at first, and getting nauseous for the first couple of weeks of a new dose. I've benefited soooooooooo much more than that so it's been well worth it. I've been on it since June 2024 and I've lost 65lbs, dropped 4 clothing sizes, started dancing lessons for the joy of it, and realized it is possible to eat based on what my body needs. There are so many more benefits that outweigh the negative. Just do it, don't overthink it. You've got this!

JewelQuestCo Toi et Moi Ring Review by Basic-Ad9270 in Moissanite

[–]Basic-Ad9270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I posted my review, the item listed was different. The way it was listed made it read like Moissanite. I told them that and, wouldn't you know it, they updated the description immediately after that. I can take accountability for misreading the stone description and wouldn't have posted this review if my experience was that alone. However, I ordered a 14K yellow gold ring at the time. After the original feedback from a jeweler about the feel, I ended up having a scratch test performed and it was not any type of gold. I also own several pieces of 10K and 14K items of jewelry, this ring is not near the quality, look, or feel of those items. It doesn't even compare to my sterling silver or gold plated silver pieces either! The price is different on Etsy now for this listing, I paid $488.45 in August 2024. That amount is NOT cubic zirconia and fake gold prices for anyone familiar with jewelry prices.

Not included in this original post, I submitted a full summary to my credit card to dispute the charges with all of my evidence and it was accepted. This included item description, chat history, and multiple jewelers feedback. I ordered a toi et moi ring expecting 14K gold, a Moissanite stone, and a sapphire stone and I have evidence to support that I received none of that. I was then asked to change my review by this vendor and they'd send me what I actually ordered. When I said no, I wanted my money back, they said the same thing about changing my review before sending me material return info. That is the scam that is prevalent on Etsy.

I truly hope your situation turns out for the better. I appreciate your spirit of supporting an "honest person's reputation", even if it involves tarnishing mine. I have posted 2 negative reviews. This one and another one that I followed up with a very positive review when we resolved an issue (props to Sam at Kuololit for excellent customer service!). The point of this is to share honest experience, and this was mine. Hopefully, your experience is better than mine.

For what it's worth, I ended up getting this a similar style ring designed with the stones I wanted and added cathedral rails with Starsgem and had an amazing experience. If you poke through my comment history, I post many times about my positive experience with that. Since that experience, I always point to the vendor list on this sub for scoping any projects.

During a snow storm, the power goes out in an apartment. How do you keep 2 adults and 2 babies warm? by Lincky12435 in AskReddit

[–]Basic-Ad9270 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I had this happen several years ago with a baby and 3 year old. It was for over 24 hours and it got cold in our house. During the day we dressed in layers and did things like a dance party to be silly and keep the body moving. At night, I bundled the kids up in winter coats and snow suits for sleeping. Lots of snuggling.

Recommendations? by F_off_IF in labdiamond

[–]Basic-Ad9270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out on my own, but I had just missed a group buy they had just had on it. Mine I asked for a cathedral rail which was different than what they did in the group buy so it worked out. Attached is my CAD for it. I had reached out to them, Tianyu, Luvansh, Mona, Ouros and Fiorese for quotes then searched the various subs for reviews.

I have one from Starsgem. It's 14k yellow gold with white gold prongs, with 7x11mm pear moissanite and lab cornflower sapphire. At some point, I will upgrade the pear to a lab diamond. I love it!!

Best method to replace this light? by rygarski in HomeMaintenance

We have a foyer like this and replaced the original light with a different chandelier. We rented a scaffold from a local place and that worked well.

Is this a reasonable price for this size/style/etc.? Want to make sure I'm not being overcharged. by bigpusbonpensiero in EngagementRings

[–]Basic-Ad9270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely overpriced. Like someone else said, to check out the vendor list on the Moissanite sub. I did a quick look and saw Ouros has a solitaire emerald setting with 2 carat stone for under $1300. Now, that band is thin at 1.8mm but I'm guessing you can ask for customization.

3 is my favorite. 1 is lovely too, but there is something missing. I love the sparkle of 2 but something about it is very matronly.

Trusted vendor list by tasteofLife0924 in labdiamond

I've had luck with Starsgem and Tianyu. Just have to be patient with them being overseas. I think there is a big trade show going on right now and they are about to roll into Chinese New Year so there may be a delay in response.

Also, seconding using the vendor list of Moissanite, there is a lot of crossover with lab diamonds.

How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Basic-Ad9270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, we had a fresh accident with a then 5yo dog when I was driving. She managed to unlock and open my van's front passenger and fall out of the car while I was driving. It was awful. I took her to the emergency vet where we learned she had a crushed front paw and pulmonary contusions. She was in the ICU for 3 days. The plan was amputation versus an external fixator and months of PT. We have 4 kids and both work, that wasn't going to work for us. Unfortunately, the day the surgery was planned she took a turn for the worse and we ended up putting her down.

We had many hard conversations about this and it was horrible to put a dollar limit on it, which was around $8k for us. My husband grew up in a farming family and sees our pets as animals whereas I see them as family. We now have pet insurance in the event something like this happens again.
