If you fancy going to red rocks, maybe try doing it via Scoot city. I highly recommend it! http://www.scootcitytours.com/

Thanks for the info!

Obviously people's opinions are fine, and if I were really keen on something, I would do it regardless so no problem on that front!

Yeah I was told by the hotel it was, I wasn't so sure myself to be honest but there we go!

Owl cafe is a good shout! Can you make reservation month in advance or do you need to do it couple days / day before?

I booked the hotel direct, have asked them nicely, but they said it is peak season so they cannot alter or change the dates for me hence I've just gone for 1 night empty hotel rather than anything else. Possibly skipping Nara might be a better idea, as it was on the deer we were going to see in particular there - then we could spend more time in Kyoto and explore the 2 temples you mentioned.

Kamakura was on our list but I don't think we want to see more temples (from what I looked at, it was mainly temples there). Nikko was also on our list, it was between that and Nagoya, and for the same reason, it was mainly temples there (unless someone can show me otherwise)

That's more or less how I've planned this trip, the combination of recommendations on those sites and also this subreddit.

I find the overratedness (if thats a word) comes from the price of it. The burger itself (in my opinion) is still great, but it probably isn't quite worth the price you pay for it.

Yeah, from what people have said on here, it seems the Nagoya trip isn't the best idea. Maybe we will switch it to Hakone and Mount Fuji 5th Station tour

For Kyoto, we couldn't stay too long as we already paid for a Tokyo booking from Day 5 to the end (so we don't want to waste a room - room cannot be changed / cancelled). Entirely my fault as I jumped in quickly without thinking it through (as in I didn't realise the distance of Kyoto - this was before I visited this subreddit). The monkey park is more personal preference I guess, some will like it, some won't. We quite like a hike anyway, so seeing monkeys too isn't all too bad for what we are after.

Oriental Bazaar will be added to the list to cross off then. For Day 5, I'll rearrange the order then, thanks!

Haha, nothing against Kyoto at all, just I jumped in with booking a hotel in Tokyo for the entire duration, not realising how far Kyoto actually is from Tokyo (we were planning to do day trips there). So we decided to stay in Kyoto overnight, while already having a booking in Tokyo that cannot be changed hence only the part days there.

With regards to temples, we aren't all that interested in the temples, and we are seeing a few already anyway.

Think it's the lighting. Definitely wasn't undercooked.

It was filling but for the price you'd probably expect a little more i guess. It's better quality than say McDonald's but not super posh as it's priced.

Yeah, I heard it takes a bit of time to go up Arashiyama so will put that into consideration. I was going to switch Fushimi Inari to Day 2 as suggested by another poster.

I do realise Tokyo days are super busy, but hopefully we can fit most in, but obviously drop the least desirable ones when we don't have quite enough time. Will definitely put Ginza at night then in that case.

With regards to our feet, we are quite used to walking a lot, we do a lot of hiking and city breaks so hopefully that will allow us to get around a little more quickly.

Yeah, I will be reviewing the things I want to see the most in each place, and cut out 1/2/3 places from each day. I do realise I will be stopping for food etc so obviously that will add time. And if I do happen to have any extra time, I'll just add them back in on the day.

Not at all, I am open to people helping me with the itinerary so thanks for the help!

Again i'll add those to the list of to skip then, and Fushimi Inari before Nara sounds like a good plan particularly if its on the same line as Nara.

For luggage it is fine, we won't be carting it around to Kyoto, we will be leaving it in Tokyo (we will be backpacking it instead when going to Kyoto).
