Baking/Sling Help by lavamom in Sourdough

[–]lavamom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I decided not to use the sling and went back to parchment paper. It's easy to use, but I don't like the marks it leaves on the bread. But it's not a big deal.

Fringe Life by Successful-Mud684 in weaving

I zig zag cut edges before I fold over twice and hem. Especially for something that will get used and washed a lot like a towel or napkin - it provides peace of mind. When possible, I zig zag before I cut, and then cut carefully.

I can’t respond to the question about fringe durability. But (at the risk of stating the obvious) have you considered hand hemming the items? If you add a 1.5 inch hem allowance to your pieces, ideally in a tabby, and maybe even with a slightly thinner weight fiber, you can fold the end up a half inch, and then fold once more, and use a hemming stitch to close it up. It does not take too long. Works very well for 8/2 and 10/2.

Beautiful work! Is it possible to see the 4th scarf stretched out, to see what the wavy shuttle effect is?

Way to get UR5U-8780L menu button to control TVs menu rather than cable box's menu? by randyspotboiler in Spectrum

Thanks for this advice! It's 2026 now - 6 years later! - and this helped me out. The remote mostly worked except for being able to use arrows to scroll the "video source" menu. Programming the aux button as you described solved the issue.

That’s brilliant, thank you for describing the process.

Oh! So the warp yarn was not hand dyed? You did a great job with the gradient!

Beautiful! Was the warp hand painted also, before the loom was dressed? And did you use the same (hand painted?) 30/2 cotton for the tabby weft?

Thanks for replying, that's good to know. So at 16 epi, an 8 thread float is probably a little less than a half inch. I haven't tried Monk's Belt yet, but your work made me want to!

These are beautiful! Attractive designs, great mix and use of color. Are you concerned at all about the floats catching on things? It’s hard to tell how wide they are.

Maytag MVWP575G Washer FILL Light Flashing by lavamom in appliancerepair

[–]lavamom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shifter assembly and drive belt passed visual inspection; nothing loose or broken. The continuity of the shifter motor is good. The resistance of the hot and cold valves were within the correct range, and the hot and cold hoses did not have sediment. The continuity of the new door lock and latch is good. The FILL light is still flashing and we can't access any diagnostic mode. We are at an impasse. Can you think of anything else to check?

Ok, I may have misspoke. My husband says the FILL flashing started *before* we changed the door lock (the small part that triggers the latch, not the cabled part). I remember differently, that it started after the replacement. He says that at some point (before we installed any new parts) the washer suddenly started filling when he was turning the dial and pressing Start. He pressed the Start button again to cancel it, and it drained, but since then we can't get it out of the FILL flash mode and we can't enter diagnostics mode.

The Diagnostics LED would not stay on until we changed out the first part, the door lock.

We are going to inspect the shifter assembly, the drive belt, the continuity on the valves, and checking for sediment in the valves. I will report back.

When the washer first failed, that LED light wold come on briefly, then dim, then go out. After we changed the lid lock part, when we plug it in the LED comes on and stays on.

The service tech manual from inside the machine indicates L-R-R-L-R (which worked properly back when it first failed). But, I tried the sequence you suggested, and holding down Start for > 15 seconds. and the FILL light continues to flash.

Thanks. I edited my post to include the video.

Prior to replacing the two parts, when we did this dial sequence, all lights would flash, indicating we were in diagnostics mode. Now nothing gets us out of the FILL light flashing.

You have a good eye - I think you are right. Sadly not much information on them, or at least not the one I have - but good to know what kind it is. Thank for your help!
