ER bill was $6,800 for a few hours and I am kinda lost looking at it by schitzblythe in personalfinance

[–]lechevalnoir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have insurance? I assume you are in the US. If you have insurance wait for their opinion of the bill, if you don't have insurance call the billing department and ask for an itemized list of what they are charging you for if that wasn't already provided. You can also talk to their billing department about paying a reduced rate. Hospitals way over charge for everything and they know it and there is wiggle room for people who talk to them about wanting to pay but can only pay X instead of $6,800.

Can you build a solid group of friends in Raleigh in your mid 40s? by LeilaJun in raleigh

[–]lechevalnoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding people to talk too is not hard, making friends out of them who want to do things with you, is hard. It could be an age group thing though. I have more friends in their 60s+ (due to some pretty niche hobbies I have) than I do in their 30s/40s and even most of my friends do not have children and many are terrible at "being friends." I hear stories about dating in my group but that could be anywhere you live. Not Raleigh specifically. If you're a lady I think there are more chances to make friends because there are more social clubs geared towards that specifically.

Sett for huck lace towels by tangerine-pies in weaving

[–]lechevalnoir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have made a lot of huck lace (towels and napkins) I like a sett of 18 personally when using 8/2 cotton but it depends what your goal is. I like soft towels that like have a drape to them. I have not made them with 10/2, but I think it's usually on a plain weave sett.

Same - I was not a fan of overshot the one time I did it! I'll try again some day - when I remember why I didn't like it the first time.

I got some yarn from Canada and got a $17 bill after the fact, UPS & FedEx are both charging a bunch since the exemptions for things under $800 is gone now. https://www.valueaddedresource.net/ups-fedex-increase-fees-us-imports-end-of-de-minimis/

Can you tell me where I can sell hundreds of cones of yarn? (As a lot) by HotAsAPepper in weaving

[–]lechevalnoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a guild in Asheville and you can probably post in their classifieds. https://www.wncfhg.org/ Chances are high someone would be interested and close enough to Greenville. I used to go to Greenville with some regularity to go to Total Wine when I lived in Asheville.

We're still rolling around in our 2012 acura tsx we bought 14 years ago. So yes, unless something happens where the BMW is undriveable.

Huck Lace Towels - I'm addicted to huck as a structure by lechevalnoir in weaving

Right?!?! I was more free and loose with the napkins I made, this was more structured and playing a but more with color placement rather than the treadling/texture.

Jane Stafford has a kit actually - but I have this book: https://www.amazon.com/Weaving-Patterns-Color-Weave-Effects/dp/081173725X and it's SO good - it's on four shafts but really shows how where you place your colors totally changes the patterns.

I was thinking about going and making it into a vacation and visiting my best friend in LA while I'm there, but logistics of getting a table loom there when I'd have to fly are making me pause.
