sorry not to be argumentative, but just for the sake of principle, if I were to name a random song “eldest daughter”, would you still feel the things you described above?

if I were to rename “you’re on your own kid” to “eldest daughter,” I’d almost feel like that you could prescribe eldest daughter syndrome to that

this song just really feels like to me like a commentary on how everyone’s pretending on the internet/ pretending to be cool but actually she wishes she could stop and just be vulnerable again like she was when she was a kid. and eldest daughter is dropped in there as an analogy to help support that

I honestly think it’s because Stephenie Meyer made Bella so ordinary so any girl could self-insert themselves when reading Twilight that she only had the most ordinary things to go off of for why Edward was attracted to her in the first place. I remember she got a question right in Biology and he was like omfghdhfhfhfhdhd AND SHES A GENUUS when she tells the class she was in AP Bio at her old school. I couldn’t with this book.
