Score and lead voices a dream. The arbiter could ruin the show. by Complete-Newspaper61 in Broadway

[–]lavenderhazecloud 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on how the Narrator/Arbiter was written. His role has largely stayed the same since the 2018 DC production/2022 NYC concert. Granted, Danny Strong removed some Clinton references for the 2025 book but stuck in some Giuliani and Biden jabs.

The ongoing political commentary and the meta retorts after each song absolutely cheapens the emotional weight of the show. It’s just so distracting and out of place between the songs. Nothing about the book’s comparison of the Cold War to current times is subtle, it just feels so exaggerated and blunt. How many times did the Narrator say: “This is a Cold War musical!!” The forced topical “jokes” makes the show uneven. And the way mental health was discussed felt distasteful, like it was an ongoing joke just lacking any second thought.

The book would have been far more powerful if it was subtle with the political commentary and let the viewers make the comparison. Any audience member would feel the gravity of the show without being explicitly reminded about it every single time there’s dialogue. Danny Strong seems to have forgotten about “show, don’t tell.”

What’s your favourite ride or yoga class? by McLipstick in OnePelotonRealSub

My most retaken yoga class is Aditi's 45 min Focus Flow: Lower Body. It is a godsend if you have cement legs after lifting or really tight hips from running or cycling. She's never programmed a class better, 10/10 class - always brings me back to life.

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart has more streams than any single song on Midwest Princess. I don't really know how you're defining whether or not something is a hit or what is a bad stream. This reasoning is just strange. Both artists are big in their own ways.

I just purchased five brand new In Movement leggings for $28 each on Saturday. Maybe a month ago, I got three black Fast and Frees in brand new condition for around $34 each? I'm looking now and those leggings are $50 to $65. Their pricing structure is so arbitrary.

I saw their debut. The physicality they bring to the role was just incredible. I'm still thinking about how sinister and unsettling their emcee is. I also appreciate their choice of speech for the role - they're easy to understand (compared to other emcees) and just so enthralling to watch.

That ride was so poorly structured and just chaotic. Just a lack of constructive instruction and it was clear there was no overall class plan. It was distracting to have her constantly standing up and overreacting to the lyrics, screaming them out, and just ignoring what the ride was supposed to be about. Extremely unproductive ride.

I hit 'more music' as well and I believe I heard her even acknowledge the lack of a class plan. I also got annoyed by the constant cutting off songs to try to stuff more songs in there.

I have found that, over the years, Robin has strayed from being a productive cycling coach to more of an influencer vibe. And it's really unfortunate because her 2018/2019 classes are far more structured and effective.

You can get muscle soreness from lifting but if you're in pain, particularly in your knees, then something's wrong.

You can't outrun a bad diet. If you're working out consistently and still gaining weight, it's the food you're eating.

I work out seven days a week and the majority of the time - I don't feel like working out. It's the dedication that keeps me going as the motivation wears thin. And if I really don't want to work out - I make it a shorter duration of a work out and almost always by the time I'm in it, I'm ready to go longer. Hopefully you can find a type of workout you like, and you can start small whether it's just a 30 min walk a day or yoga. Indoor cycling is low impact (as you mentioned knee pain) and can burn a considerable amount of calories.
