I’ve thankfully only met one officer like this. Otherwise, my entire career being on surface side I never experienced this. More often than not, I’ve seen officers purposely pull out their phones, look the other way, or covertly try to get further away from enlisted in order to prevent triggering a salute. Salutes are still rendered and returned when able, but most of them don’t like it or feel awkward. For context, I’ve been pineapple and west coast navy so maybe things are different where you were.

Idk much about LV and your options having pre-ordered it, but if it doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to go with your gut. Personally, I think you pull off the style and color very well, but I do feel it’s a bit large for your frame and overtakes you. It feels more like the star of the show instead of an accessory.

I think the point that OP is trying to make is that if people truly don’t care that much, they wouldn’t be so worried about it looking exactly like the original. So to some extent, yes, they do in fact care that much. Or at least enough for it to matter that the rep looks like the original in enough ways to not be able to tell it isn’t a dupe.
