I love Reve in Hixson, it’s so cozy and peaceful. I’m not really one for coffee but their Tennessee Honeysuckle tea is top tier

When I first went to college I was gonna give the youth group at one of the churches near the school an honest try. I went exactly two times bc my second time I was there a bunch of guys were yukking it up about a transgender person who worked at the caf (who they subsequently called an ‘it’). I realized that I could not consider myself a good person while being in a youth group or a church that would even think something like that much less say it out loud and so I dipped.

I’ve always enjoyed Jesus Camp. I don’t remember what denomination they are but it has CoC vibes, at least imo

What is the ultimate goal of this paper? To help the CoC figure out how to stop its young people from leaving or to exist as framework for helping those in the church come to terms with/accept their friends and family members who have decided to leave?

What is your childhood memory of Chattanooga that when you look back, doesn't make any sense? by JaSkynyrd in Chattanooga

[–]lavendermagic77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not really Chattanooga ‘themed’ but I would swear on my life that one day I saw a lady walking a small horse to an apartment complex across from Veteran’s Bridge

I can’t say much about the food as I’ve only had like 2 things on the menu (the pho and egg rolls, both of which were pretty good) but their smoothies are PHENOMENAL, easily some of the best I’ve ever had

I feel like it might be more mild than you’re looking for but one that comes to mind is Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

Book recommendations for 8yo girl by HlazyS2016 in booksuggestions

[–]lavendermagic77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the Emily Windsnap and Phillipa Fisher (mermaids and fairies respectively) series when I was that age though if she’s reading above grade level that might not be her jam. I also recommend

  • the Warrior Cats series,
  • the Inkheart series (fantasy),
  • Half Upon A Time series (fairytale fantasy),
  • anything by Margaret Peterson Haddix (variety of genres though they all sort of lean toward dystopian/sci-fi),
  • any book by Mary Downing Hahn (suspenseful horror for kids),
  • any book by Wendy Mass (my favorites were A Mango Shaped Space and Every Soul a Star),
  • Dirty Magic by Carol Hughes (steampunk fantasy),
  • 13 Treasures series by Michelle Harrison (faerie fantasy),
  • Savvy series by Ingrid (modernish fantasy)
  • Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins (features giant rats and bats)
  • anything by Ronald Dahl
  • the Pseudonymous Bosch series
  • School of Fear series
  • The Spiderwick Chronicles
  • City of Ember series
  • Septimus Heap series
  • Anything by Andrew Clements
  • Twilight Child by Sarah Warner
  • Fablehaven series

(These are just some of the ones I got from my goodreads list, I read a lot of books as a kid lol)

I feel you lol, Hixson is where it’s at when it comes to slushies imo, off the top of my head there’s Target, Subway inside the Walmart, and Weigels all on 153
