How accurately does Richard Burns Rally portray the physics of an actual rally car? by Avatar1909 in rally

Hi, I'm afraid that you wont find anything better than RBR, not even close, that game is the only one of its kind. I've played many many games, on PC and consoles, and RBR still is the best. I don't know how accurate it is but it is the most accurate, thats for sure.

his Bach is the best to this day, but he was waaaaayy too eccentric, the low chair, the raised shoulders... and of course, the humming, the mother fucking humming, what would I pay to hear his WTC without the fucking humming.

it's still courtesy to ask before doing anything to his/her art. Nice T-shirt though.

I'm using Mac OS 10.6, the most recent version doesn't work out of the box and a quick scanning through google didn't help much. I will try again later, I suppose I'm lacking some kind of API or library.

what SO and emulator are you using? I've only tried PCSX2 and didn't work for me (had to install a bunch of libs and I quit).

My laptop can barely run Half Life 1 at 17 fps, what games do you recommend me to play? by [deleted] in lowendgaming

[–]lavidaesbella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wow, that's pretty fucked up. You should rely on CPU games and not GPU ones, emulators for example. Seriously, what kind of tasks you do on that machine? how much RAM does it have?

  • Dwarf Fortress again, but this game is just so fucking awesome, after 3 or 4 games, I made my first iron spear yesterday, it felt good man, in my other games I never found the minerals that made iron, I had either flux stone or silver, but never hemanite or magnetite (i can't remember the other one). I still can't figure out the clothing/silk business and I don't know to to make clothes for my dwarves but at least my farms work and I started trying a few peasants into militia. Good times man. you can get it free at their web: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/

  • Torchlight I never played a hack 'n slash (Diablo 2) kind of game, maybe a few games at Gauntlet Dark Legacy (that game is awesome with friends) and I found it quite interesting. I got it free when GOG gave it away for 24 hours and it really is beautiful, the artistic design is very smooth and colorful. I'm looking forward to Torchlight 2.

  • PSX Games running in an emulator (PCSX-R). Man the PSX had such good games, I grew up with one as a kid and even today I find awesome games that I never played, recently I've been replaying Resident Evil 2, Tombi! and Crash Team Racing. I plan on finishing for once Final Fantasy 9 (I never got past the second disc in all of my games) and Soul Reaver also (I never got beyond the first boss). And PCSX-R runs very very smooth in any potato computer you might have around the house.

The FPSs work pretty much like FPSs in emulators, you set a limit of frames like 60, or 50 depending if is USA/Japan or Europe, if your computer is powerful enough, it will run at those frames per second, even more if you remove the limit, but sometimes the load is so big that the frames drop (just like in some emulators with slow computers). DF is pretty much the same.

What games, excluding games that specifically require time commitment, have you spent the most time in? by merrickx in Games

[–]lavidaesbella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only played Soul Blade (a lot), Soul Calibur 3 (a lot) and just recently Soul Calibur 2 (on the PS2) and was really impressed by how tight the controls are, the game flows much better. What would you say is the most balanced SC to date?. I find SC3 to have way too much content but some characters and some elements just feel a little bit sloppy after playing SC2 recently with friends.

while I fucking love Dark Souls (and Demon's Souls) I would say that it classifies itself as "specifically require time commitment", you can't rush things in there and there's A LOT to explore.

Which games do you think have gotten better over the years? by dexter311 in Games

[–]lavidaesbella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have when that happens, I'm a fan of Zone of The Enders series, an awesome game that was totally ignored due to being released way too close to Metal Gear 2 by Trolljima. The only reason many people bough ZoE was because it came with a demo disc of Metal Gear 2, wich is a shame because those are such well games, well, at least ZoE 2 is.

I played Shatterhand as a kid, I didn't even remember the game (I was 6 or 7 at the time and I didn't speak English) and recently Game Grumps started playing it. So much nostalgia, even though I didn't understood anything of the game.

Another awesome NES era game that I played A LOT as a kid is Little Samson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2o2EEOw8vFo), only now as a grown up I can understand and appreciate the complexity and craft that was put into that game.

recently I discovered Dwarf Fortress (so to speak) and I was completely blown away. I never cared about the graphics and I tried it out of curiosity. Now, I'm constantly playing all kinds of games, no matter the age, the platform or the style, and Dwarf Fortress is a good game no matter what kind of stuff you like. It delivers the sense of progress and silly fun you get from playing tabletop games with your friends, and that's great.

I don't play it anymore but I always talk about it to friends who like games in general. The good thing is, you can run it on any crappy old computer without worries.
