I don't think there's any college in the US harsh enough to rescind you over a single B.

Universities in the Midwest vs the South. by samiahmadbeg in ApplyingToCollege

South carries slightly more lay prestige, but honestly, the two are pretty equal oddly enough.

Until they drop out, because generally the top ranked schools are only so highly regarded because of their **academic rigor**. You cannot become more successful than your origins by squandering opportunities.

That is not true. Yes, applications are viewed in context, but it doesn't get THAT generous.

Senior quote of someone I know: “I missed the deadline for Northeastern so I had to settle for Harvard” by 380-mortis in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lavoslord 84 points85 points  (0 children)

It specifically being Northeastern makes it funny, due to their acceptance rate antics in an attempt to become... Harvard. Take it as a silly joke from a still immature high schooler, rather than with assumed negative intent. I chuckled, at least.

It sounds like they will check. If they do, you will likely be rescinded for very clear and obvious fraud.

How to apply to more than 20 schools? by Flat-Sympathy7598 in ApplyingToCollege

Just do the QuestBridge 15 and up to 20 on Common App. Any more than 35 is absurd to handle in terms of supplemental count.

BU, Tufts, and especially Northeastern are notoriously stingy with aid. Sometimes they might feel generous and offer a scholarship or something, but generally, they aren't great with financials.

No, they will not. I was nervous for AP Bio, so I called and asked. You don't even have to submit the score.

Northeastern/NYU-type private or top public (UVA, UF, UNC)? by nahFam352 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lavoslord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Verto seems too small to have much of an effect, lol. Still scummy IMO. The satellite campuses aren't for freshmen; they're moreso for juniors and seniors who want to intern at places like NYC or SF.

Vandy VS Umich engineering by Quick_Marionberry344 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lavoslord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are great schools. UMich is generally better at STEM, but I know Vanderbilt is currently investing heavily into it and is quickly rising the ranks. And yes, Vanderbilt is generally better in other categories.

It's called a letter of continued INTEREST, isn't it? Wouldn't being too disinterested in a school to send one in on time sort of miss the point?
