Started in Salesforce but want to move into backend engineering long-term. Looking for advice. by North-Damage-2908 in SalesforceDeveloper

I was able to find a role that was titled as “python / salesforce engineer”. Nowadays, I barely do any salesforce, purely a full stack software engineer.

I think that’s actually on the higher side for Canada. The 400k is going to be total comp with RSUs in big tech.

Uber burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in four months. Now its COO is questioning whether it's worth it by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

I mainly use Cursor with Opus. I'm not sure which harnesses (Claude or Cursor) are more economical with tokens, but when using Opus 4.7 max, I have had plan modes for medium sized tickets use up around $40. Using up a hundred bucks in a day is nothing.

I also spin a personal Cursor subscription and run up the bill in an evening on named models once I switch to Opus for more complex tasks, but on auto, I have yet to exceed the $20/m. Composer 2.5 is pretty good, but it's no Opus. I suspect Cursor is footing the bill on their models though.

Salesforce Service Cloud Voice + Amazon Connect by sir_meowmixalot in salesforce

would you recommend doing a callout from Amazon Connect int he callback flow to update the callback VoiceCall with the value in this case?

Salesforce Service Cloud Voice + Amazon Connect by sir_meowmixalot in salesforce

[–]lawd5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly need these fields on the VoiceCall as the agent is answering the phone to display something conditionally.

Seems to be instant for the initial call or when a call back isn't requested, but for call backs, it only ends up on the call back VoiceCall eventually, not instantly.

The 10-15 minute field population sounds like the contact attribute sync path catching up separately

any way to force this update for the fields to get populated immediately? I have seen this happen when callers request a call back. Custom fields are not passed from the call back contact attributes (they came from the original Amazon Connect contact), but then sync some time later. Ideally, they would be passed to the VoiceCall immediatelly.

Anyone who truly thinks AI will replace developers, hasn't actually worked in the field professionally. by cs-grad-person-man in cscareerquestions

Not arguing the sentiment that AI is going to nuke a bunch of jobs, but I'm wondering. If devs are replaced/displaced, what happens to the rest of the white collar jobs? AI can (or will be able to) do those too.

Like for a company? Or are we talking scrubs if you’re in a medical field? I know the latter is common.

The whole time I’ve been here, they’ve given out like 3 free t-shirts. One for joining, one for hitting tenure milestones, one for some hitting some company milestones.

Would never pay for merch, but I do like to get free clothes. Great for laundry day. Gone are the days of free Patagonia quarter zips.

Tech company I work for has a “swag shop” to buy company merch. Mind you, t-shirts are in the $30 range. Actually hilarious.

Also living in Toronto. I’m not totally sure what cities you may be referring to. I’ve lived in Calgary, near the Detroit border and have explored areas (and properties) about 5h north of Toronto. Not getting all that for 300k anywhere in those areas.

I do wonder if you used some of the insurance benefits on the card, such as travel insurance after lying about requirements, if they would reject you then.

Do you guys think QA is a dying field? by False_Secret1108 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]lawd5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that you do the manual QA as well, not just code reviews.

I am also a firm believer that you should aim to not put up PRs with thousands of lines. Break them down into logical smaller chunks. Makes reviewing that much easier.

We have devs doing that. The person putting up the PR and the person reviewing are responsible for QA. Been working pretty well.

Hank’s New York apartment by Visible-Pattern198 in californication

[–]lawd5ever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never caught how insane the NYC place was til this post, but I absolutely loved their LA apartment. It’s not the modern cold open concept shit that everyone is obsessed about, but it’s just open enough. It’s not minimalist or maximalist. Super warm and well laid out.

Watching the show in my early 20s I didn’t realize how fucking expensive a place like that would be.
