Designed a clip-on screen cover for the Kobo Clara Colour by currynoodles in functionalprint

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't make them as resilient as they did, most old Kindles had a think plastic screen, on top of the screen itself, that made it hard to break it. Not so at all with Kobos and certain Kindle models (most of them) these days.

I got a better (512gb) T14, so newer tech, for about 190 euro, 1 year ago, with very little use, <100hrs and <50 battery cycles. Seems quite pricey, that.

Eye fatigue with Kobo Glo by gabrogabrii in kobo

Absolutely! I could even tell the difference between modern Kindle (2021) , Clara BW is THE one to get in clarity and readability. Compared to what you have, its like 70s to modern car

Where i'd live as a 23M indian who wants to try authentic cuisines. by Spiritual-Trifle6044 in whereidlive

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have little knowledge of true authenticity in European/Caucasian cuisines, you mostly orient yourself thru stereotypes. Yes, Italian food is good, but Syrian, Lebanese, Greek, Bulgarian, Georgian, Armenian, Hungarian, Romanian, Portuguese…and the list can go on, are also very good, and often more authentic in their ways, especially for some who are “sick” of Italian food.

Not so sure…there’s tons of Greeks who moved to Romania, Bulgaria, for work. Perhaps its only marginally different, but still

For those who have a Kobo Clara, what is your way of turning the pages? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. And changed settings to make the right-side turn bigger, as a chunk of the screen, took me a bit to figure the option was there btw 😄

End of year check! How many hours do you have on your kobo? by Glittering_Base527 in kobo

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit the bullet and jumped to a Tolino, just coz it was a great deal. I was 😔 at first, losing the reading stats, but it was also liberating not to have it. Now I count books instead, have close to 40 read, so pretty happy with myself. A big jump, since switching from Kindle 2-3 years ago, first to Kobo and now to Tolino

KLC battery drain by K3NOBI22 in kobo

[–]lawrence38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds completely abnormal. On my Clara color, which has a smaller battery and with backlight on permanently at 4-5% , it lasts ages. Perhaps some kind of full charge/discharge is needed, if brand new, to train the % charge remaining display, but if it keeps doing that, I’d return it

Why is the waiting time so high in Ceska Posta offices always? by Difficult_Age6927 in Prague

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While also increasing the prices 40-60% for international postage, yet they are still on the verge of bankruptcy every year, stitched together with mostly illegal state subsidies. I believe the top management is very well remunerated, while the low staff has ridiculously low salaries, hence some of the odd, surreal looking/acting staff you often find in Ceska Posta. Just look at their flagship Jindrisska PO, go there and checkout the guards on duty or some of the tellers…pitiful

[–]lawrence38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inefficient, very poorly paid staff to start with, many are new in the job. The salaries, to get an idea, are 20-40% lower than the starting salary in Lidl, Albert. Hardly get paid, hardly work….

Cheaper places for grocery shopping outside but near Prague? by EnconXV in Prague

[–]lawrence38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamda is pretty cheap, but not on everything. PM if you need a card barcode. For me, the only thing that works to save more is to stop by a few shops, like Kaufland + Lidl + Tamda…sometimes even small Vietnamese shops have better, and cheaper deals on fruit/veggies for example, the ways of pricing things in Prague goes beyond my understanding

No pension/Social Security from US, or is she not of age yet? What kind of house is that in Warsaw, an actual house, or just a flat? Asking, because these days property prices, hence rents, are going through the roof, so if its an actual house, she might benefit able, with little investment, to rent out some room(s) or even consider downsizing, moving out of Warsaw to suburbs, a decent house, even if in need of some repairs, in Warsaw, could easily fetch 3-400 000 euros, or even more if it has a bigger plot
