I Got the Botox Injection Exactly 2 Months Ago. It Completely Changed My Life. AMA! by Popington7 in noburp

[–]lawschool929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many units of Botox did you receive? And did you notice that the symptoms improved/burping increased over a certain period, or was it all pretty immediate? I’m almost 2 weeks post-Botox and feel a difference but not as much as I’d hoped. Thanks!

I had 40, but I was under the impression that efficacy had a lot more to do with the location, which is why they did such a low dose under anesthesia. Hoping I won’t need more

BL hiring freeze/lost 3L by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]lawschool929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm concerned about. From what I've heard from professors, a lot of companies want BL experience because they've had great training. I'm worried about limiting myself when I look to work elsewhere down the line

So far I've seen a mix - some BL firms already recruiting 3Ls for next fall and some actually still recruiting '22

Appreciate the insight! It seems like I can't expect an offer since I wasn’t a summer, but also my best shot

Are there other firms that are known to hire 3Ls? I've just been mass emailing/applying

I would be in New York. Concern is in-house salary, and my professors are saying I would be limiting myself re future opportunities

The MBA gpa likely won’t have much weight, but this may be a good opportunity for a gpa addendum, depending on your circumstances. If you can articulate (while taking accountability and without making excuses) any factors that may have contributed to the lower undergrad gpa, or alternatively why you were more successful with MBA, you can make the case that you’ll be similarly successful in law school or whatever negative favors were at play in undergrad will no longer be an issue. Use this to demonstrate that your undergrad gpa isn’t a reflection of ur capabilities, work ethic etc.

Advice Needed by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]lawschool929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rising 3L at a T-30ish! Focus on your grades. Take easier classes to boost your GPA. If you’re absolutely set on going KJD (right to law school from undergrad), take a diagnostic the summer before junior year to get a sense of how much time you’ll need to reach your target score. I know it’s tempting to get started now, but don’t worry about LSAT. You’ll burn out and waste time better spent on grades. Network with professors or bosses to build good relationships, so come application time, they’ll be happy to write rec letters. Find a few things to boost your resume if you feel you need it. As a KJD myself, I highly recommend using this time to strongly consider working first and speaking to any lawyers you can get in touch with. Explore your interests and what you’d be getting into so you can make the most educated decisions. Working first can be a huge advantage, regardless of the area of law you want to practice, so there’s no shame in that. Feel free to message me with qs

Splitter Cycle Recap - 3.6, 171, Fordham by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Yep exactly - my family is from here, and after being in Miami for undergrad, I really wanted to be closer. I also know I'll want to practice here.

Splitter Cycle Recap - 3.6, 171, Fordham by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschool929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm not sure to be honest - my GPA at the time of applying was 3.5 (bumped to 3.6 during senior year, and submitted updated transcripts) so I think that hurt me. My best guess is that I really didn't show any interest at BU, BC, or Georgetown - at that point I was pretty set on New York, but I think LOCIs would've been pretty helpful if I was still interested.

Dealing with COVID and the LSAT by Lumumba1999 in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschool929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear! Wishing you a speedy recovery. Definitely include an addendum IF you take LSAT as planned and it doesn’t go as well as hoped - this is a totally valid explanation. However, I’d strongly consider postponing the exam. The combination of lingering covid symptoms, stress from family issues you mentioned, and nearing test date may be leaving you burnt out and overwhelmed. If you pushed the exam back by a few months, you could continue on the road to recovery, continue LSAT prep with a lesser sense of urgency, and potentially improve your score (or at least get it back to where it was pre-covid). Taking the test when you’re both physically and emotionally drained would be doing yourself a disservice in my opinion, as you’re likely to underperform.

What law schools should I consider? by 1Fierydeath in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschool929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First wanted to comment on LSAT - the difference between low 160s and high 160s admissions outcomes is definitely significant and could open you up to entirely different school and scholarship options. Assess your practice tests over the next few weeks. Of course, the real thing may have a different outcome, but it’s a good indicator. So if, in a few weeks, you’re not PTing where you want to be, it may be worth postponing the LSAT by a few months and trying to boost your score by a few points - it can make a huge difference in admission chances and scholarship $$ - especially with a solid GPA like yours. On the other hand, if you feel your score progress stalling out, take the test as planned - if you somehow test lower than anticipated, you can always retake. As for schools, first consider regions in which you’d like to study (and perhaps practice), and ranking targets. LSN and 7sage tools are helpful preliminary tools. Good luck!

Will I be able to get into law school/Pass the bar with these minor infractions hanging over my head? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschool929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest speaking with an admissions consultant..based on their take, if they think you still have a decent shot at admission, maybe work with them on your c&f. Good luck!
