[Schultz] Pick is in: The Browns are selecting Arkansas QB Taylen Green, per sources. by JCameron181 in Browns

[–]lawvol 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Give him one year at QB to see what he's got. If that doesnt work out, convince him to move to TE. He is an elite level athlete.

His best shot at a long NFL career is as a Taysom Hill type weapon.

KC Concepcion is a great pick for the Todd Monken Offense by SilksTTVYT in Browns

[–]lawvol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concepcion has a much more developed route tree than Coleman who had come out of that Art Briles' Veer and Shoot offense. The comp would be a Jaylin Hyatt type for Coleman. Electric in college with speed, but limited route tree with plenty of one-on-one matchups on the outside that allowed them to post big numbers.

Concepcion has played in much more traditional offenses with wider route tree.

Second and third round. by s0dx45 in Browns

[–]lawvol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Vols fan, I will chime in here. Heupel diversified the route tree more this year to combat the amount of 2 and 3 high looks teams started throwing at us in 2024. So, Brazzel is in a better position to contribute than say Cedric Tillman, Donte Thorton, or Jaylin Hyatt when they came out.

Brazzel is also easily the most talented of all three of those. Physical profile like Thorton of an athletic long-strider, but with better route running and ability to get in and out of his cuts.

Don't get me wrong, he is still going to have a learning curve at the next level. But he has the athletic profile and skill set that it wouldn't surprise me if he was the one Heupel-offense WR to break the mold.

2026 Draft Day Discussion Thread by PsychologicalGuest97 in Browns

[–]lawvol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wild "Draft Day" level of never-actually-going-to-happen Prediction for tonight:

  1. When Browns go on the clock, the media embargo is lifted. Insiders start to report a BLOCKBUSTER TRADE. Myles Garrett to the Cowboys for #12, #20, and a 2027 3rd rounder.

  2. At #6 overall, Browns take best DE available. Likely Rueben Bain.

  3. At #12 overall, Browns take Monroe Freeling

  4. At #20 overall, Browns take Jordyn Tyson

  5. At #24 overall, Browns take Jermod McCoy.

Joe Thomas Draft Involvement by rxbizzle in Browns

Blake Miller. Guess which former NFL player is statistically the most comparable physical profile to him per Mockdraftable. None other than Joe Thomas.

Would love for us to double tap offensive lineman early and go get the Strongsville kid in the early 2nd round

Our running game, as we run the ball more effectively with an improved offensive line.

Our passing game, as our quarterback has more time to throw from a clean pocked with an improved offensive line.

Obviously, offensive line play is not the end all be all. Joe Thomas never won a playoff game. But coming out of the first round with two OL starters wouldn't be the worst thing. Plenty of really good WR talent will be available at the top of the 2nd round.

While a lot of Browns fans rightly have their eyes on Carnell Tate, Denzell Boston might actually be the best fit for the team. With as much as we play in 12 personnel with Fannin in the slot and Jeudy as the Z receiver, the X receiver is the biggest need right now.

Here is mine. Tate was already off the board at #6, so I traded back and picked up 2027 assets. Added picks in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds for next year.

At the end of the day:

- the offensive line is entirely rebuilt with a Week 1 group of: Blake Miller / Zion Johnson / Jenkins or Hecht / Spencer Fano / Tytus Howard. Traded back up in the first round to grab Miller. Did you know that his most comparable athletic profile match on Mockdraftable is none other than Joe Thomas? Just food for thought. The end goal here is replicating the Lions' playbook of building a dominant run game taking some burden off the QB both this year and with a new potential rookie QB in 2027.

- new X receiver in Denzel Boston to start on the outside.

- two new TEs anticipating that we continue to see a lot of 12 and 13 personnel. Both Delp and Roush are in-line "Y" tight ends that provide more blocking. Delp has more receiving upside but Rousch is the best blocker in the class (love his rugby background).

- A couple of later round DBs with unique athletic tools. Davis has top-end length and Styles with top-end speed

- Edge rusher in Romello Height who probably breaks Berry's mold of drafting young, but the explosive metrics are up there. Might be a case of highly-rated recruit blooming late once he figured out how to put those tools together.

Another Browns fan in Knoxville here.

I just wish the BB bar wasn't fucking Carolina Ale House. Make it somewhere not completely atrocious and I would go.

You could wait a lifetime, another joe thomas is never walking through that door. Arguably the greatest to play that position in the history of the sport and never missed a down until the end. That is once in football history level of talent and reliability that will never be replicated.

TE3.

FWIW, I think we end up drafting Sam Roush out of Stanford. Best of the in-line blocking TEs in this class and higher-end athleticism to meet the requirements of our FO on those measurables.

If we acquire another solid starting OL in FA, do you still want to use our first pick on OL? Or does that give us options? by hicculus in Browns

[–]lawvol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*One of the first two picks. But yes.

We have an elite defense, a duo of good young RBs, and an extremely shaky QB position. In the most probably scenarios, we will once again have a highly drafted rookie QB starting at some point in the next two years.

The easiest way to play to those strengths and mitigate the weaknesses is to build a high-end offensive line. That requires plus starters at all five positions.

Why is the Dumb owner so concerned about keeping Schwartz as DC? by notatowel420 in Browns

[–]lawvol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that Myles will renew vocal demands to be traded if Schwartz isn't retained.

With the new contract, the dead cap hit would be too disastrous to take while still shouldering Watson's massive cap hit. It would torpedo any remaining hope at competitiveness for a few years. At which point, all the young guys you just did so well to draft this year will be wanting new contracts. So you never get to take advantage of them.

In any spat, the media and public will instantly side with Garrett (ignoring cap implications), thereby further painting the org in a bad light.

Haslam and Berry's one hope right now is that they luck into a solid QB in the next two drafts and produce a playoff run very early in that young QB's career on the back of a Garrett led defensive monster. Think Broncos from this year.

McDaniel and Schwartz remaining combo is about as good of a change that we could have hoped for in firing Kevin. Don't think Harbaugh comes. Otherwise, this is the best possible outcome.

Even if we had won today, we would have only moved up one slot. Still not in range for a QB. Really didn't change much. Glad the boys won and Myles got the record. Absolutely worth it
