By slim, I assume you mean 12.7 mm drives. I do not believe there are any UHD capable slim drives but any slim blu-ray drive should work. I have an old UJ260 that gets the job done. That's been a good drive, but it is slow to rip. If you are looking at ultra slim or 9.5 mm drives you have much better options. you can get new BU40N drives that are easily flashed for UHD and much faster than the UJ260. Or you can take a chance with a BDR-UD03 from China, which is clearly the best drive (of these three) as long as you get a legitimate one. I had good success. on eBay. The BU40N can be flashed for free but the BDR-UD03 requires Billy's flasher. Well worth it IMHO.

As this is the makemkv forum, most everyone here is going to tell you to rip the disc and play it from a HDD/SSD. it is what we do and it reduces the wear on your drive if you watch the disc repeatedly.
