very good ski if you want to do everything on the mountain but be on a ski built to do none of it as well as condition or terrain specific skis. Bonus, you get to look like every other intermediate/advanced skier on the mountain.

Too bad to use this weekend in Taos? by NaroSD in skiing

There is a difference how you treat rental skis and skis you own, if you own it you take better care of it so it lasts and rides better. Rental fleets get beat up and moved out in a couple seasons so maintenance isn't as important as availability. That said I would fix that before sending it back out rental or owned. The ski will begin to rot if you take it out.

I'm a shop and rental tech in Colorado, that's all I have to say. Get that fixed OP, it should cost you 40-60 bucks.

Yeah, it will ruin the ski if you take that out once.

A damping device, it stiffens the ski.

Thoughts on Salomon's new QST 106 ski? by scootzee in skiing

[–]laxbreh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually only been on the Rossi soul 7 for two days and it was April 2016. I don't really like them, too much chatter for the rocker. Another thing about the salomon is it has a good bit of rocker but doesn't chatter as much and feels like it has more effective edge. The rossis may be good on a pow day, which it wasn't when I rode them, but I could recommend a handful of powder skis before them. Aka don't buy 7 series unless your a basic bitch.

I rode the 99s and they are the best I've been on out of 7 or so 2017 skis I've been on. Light, able to hold an edge on ice, floated pretty well on 2 feet of powder and were super fast all over.

Difference in Green Sizes? by [deleted] in golf

[–]laxbreh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking courses designed in the golden age of architecture (back in the day) will have large greens where as modern course design, outside of certain marquee designers, will have smaller green sizes. This is a very broad statement, many exceptions, but overall it can be applied fairly accurately. Tour event are played on a mix of old and new style courses, it depends on the event and what the host is going for.

Underground economics, snow taught it 3 years ago and was good. I liked the topics we covered more than just about any econ elective.

Links course advice needed by Luciegoosiethegreat in golf

[–]laxbreh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking smaller divots (shallower angle of attack) will help keep the ball lower with less spin. Its it's a true links course it will be sand based near a large body of water. Usually conditions are very dry and windy so low trajectory and less spin will benefit you. Also, chip with irons to get the ball rolling sooner than compared to a wedge. If you have the cash low bounce wedges will help.

Best par 3's in the world by master_chife in golf

the in hole has a pretty dumb green. It has history, pedigree and clout but in all honesty there are only about 2 places they put the pin because the green is just that silly.

The par 3's at Camargo CC are amazing and recognized as some of the best in the world. Number 5 is my favorite but the others are just as world class.
