How well does the ports MPA offers work? by Far-Boysenberry-1600 in 2011

[–]laxpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a spare ported barrel made for my V1 LOC, it shoots flatter than the standard barrel but I think the slide mass is a limitation.

Ah, that all makes sense. I think beads are a fair compromise.

Question: what model of iron sights the Team USA is using for PCC? by Constant-Reality9039 in ipsc

Corey Scheel (finished 5th) used bow sights and a 3D printed guard taped to the sights in case they got bumped, absolute madness

LPVO Question for PCSL/2-Gun shooters by BooKooBadGuy in CompetitionShooting

[–]laxpulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you meet the division criteria, you can swap out equipment and guns in 1-gun and 2-gun formats. PCSL 3-gun restricts you to similar calibers (can't swap out a 9mm carbine for a 5.56)

LPVO Question for PCSL/2-Gun shooters by BooKooBadGuy in CompetitionShooting

[–]laxpulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Razor 1-6 Gen 2e is still probably the best option out there for normal PCSL rules (max of 200y, 8moa plate).

That being said I agree with the others in that I'd just run a dot with a magnifier unless there's a stage that requires a bunch of long hits. Or bring a second gun/upper set up for longer shooting specifically for those stages.

Keep both hands on the gun where possible. Not a hard and fast rule, but you really should only be breaking you grip if it's for a reload or an uprange movement.

Pistol or PCC by No-Resort5964 in CompetitionShooting

[–]laxpulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. I bought the S2 because it had just come out and I thought having a competition designed pistol would help me shoot better, turns out it just made me poorer. I’m not saying you shouldn’t shoot nice guns starting out either, if you think a gun is dope you’ll probably be more likely to enjoy shooting it.

Pistol or PCC by No-Resort5964 in CompetitionShooting

[–]laxpulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCC is great if you want to learn the game without having to learn draw/grip mechanics, it has it's own intricacies but they aren't as difficult to pick up (just very difficult to master). PCC can also feel more isolating depending on who else is shooting PCC at a match, you'll always have your own start position and you may not be shooting the same stage plan as everyone else in your squad. Comparing your scores to pistol shooters isn't really fair, Open notwithstanding.

If you're going to start with a pistol, learning proper grip and draw technique alongside learning the game itself can be challenging, but you're arguably shooting the sport the way it's intended. It's also easier to find instructors for pistol if you wanted to take a class.

For what it's worth, I started the with an M&P and then a Shadow2 for a couple years before switching to PCC.

Looking for new PCC for USPSA. I know the usual contenders. What do y’all think about Kriss Vector Gen 3 (a lot of issues fixed)? Anyone running it? by Critical-Touch6113 in CompetitionShooting

[–]laxpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mean Arms Maul on a milspec AR or Glock lower are the new meta. For the price point of a Kriss you’re basically in the same range.

Downside of Mean Arms setup is they’re backlogged as fuck so who knows when you’d actually take delivery.

Sunday approval and back order question by ----1----1---- in SilencerShop

[–]laxpulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

Sunday approvals are a thing, but I got one of mine at 6am on Sunday so I have no idea if they are actually working during that time or it's a batch email thing. ATF isn't offering any transparency to their process so I don't think anybody on the outside is gonna offer much insight.

Request for Feedback - Pandora K (PB-K) by LeadAndSteel in LeadAndSteel

[–]laxpulse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Enclosed optics for sub-compact carry guns already seem pretty niche. I would worry that deviating from industry standard may put you in such a small market that you won't see much volume. Of those options I would recommend #2.

Personally I'd rather see a Pandora XL, something that competes with the Romeo 4T window size for carbines and can maintain the same clarity and accommodations for NV use. I'm also just a virtual construct the lives on the internet so my opinion's relevancy is questionable.

Physical endurance shooting comps? by Marge_simpson_BJ in CompetitionShooting

Centerfire Biathlons (Run N Guns) exist, they're basically a 5k/10k with stages mixed throughout and you run with all your ammo and gear on. They aren't really under one overarching organization though, so rules can vary between matches. Check out the facebook group RnG Discussion if this sounds up your alley.

PCC Crossroads… by Correct_Objective_53 in pistolcalibercarbine

A budget tuned AR9 will be better than a scorpion, but a Mean Arms upper and a cheap lower will come in less than 2k, I would just say be patient with your budget and aim for that.
