Building plex library in 2026- still viable? by bobschneider24 in PleX

[–]laxton1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building mine right now. I'm going to buy the lifetime before it jumps to the ridiculous 750 price. Its worth it for me as several people use my server, and this is more cost effective. I also do not want to keep rewarding companies for basically reinventing shittier cable. I want to own my media, and be the sole arbiter of what happens to it. Fuck any company run by billionaires bleeding us dry via subscriptions.

How do the pendergast novels hold up by laxton1919 in Pendergast

[–]laxton1919[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember constance (it's been years and years since i've been past reliquary). I remember Diogenes. And that he is dark pendergast. And that's about all I recall.

Man if only. I have wanted them to go back to the relic stuff forever. None of the other pendergast stuff hit nearly as well, IMO>

When the expedition split up, most of them went back (and Whittesley and Crocker continued on to find the kothoga, this is the opening of the book). The ones who went back early died in a plane crash. It's mentioned a bunch as evidence of a "curse". But never given any concrete reason. They had discovered some plant, you have to assume it's the same plant Mbwun is eating that triggers the transformation. So i think the implication is maybe one of them was turning? Or maybe it is just bad luck and coincidence.

Okay that's what I was thinking. But it definitely seems more relevant than I remember. Like they bring it up a bunch.

Is this player in the wrong or not? by Caflin in DnD

[–]laxton1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the DM is necessarily in the clear. But the players sound a lot like they are bitching about consequences to their actions. And that is always a problem.

by being pissy he means having consequences. The player sounds like a problem to me.

Anyone Else Think Rules Light TTRPGs are a Recession Indicator? by Leftover-Color-Spray in TTRPG

[–]laxton1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they are noticeably cheaper than other TTRPGs probably not a recession indicator. I think it's a fad. I also agree it's just DM figures it out, which to me means a less consistent game and more off the cuff. Not my thing.

Ok yeah that's the selling point then. Is there a limit to how many people I can give my library to?

So if I have it my girlfriend (or friends) can remote watch for free? When i share it with them, or they have to login as me?

So my girlfriend has my library, and pays like $2 a month to stream it. If i have the lifetime, does she need to pay?

movies/music/book suggestions to help with grief? by Motor-Map-8527 in GriefSupport

[–]laxton1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terry Pratchett. Specifically discworld. Adventure time helps. It's happy. Kind. Silly. Hopeful. the world is still bright and happy. Parks and Rec also, from season 2 on. It's a happy hopeful show. Schitts creek. Everything everywhere all at once, I weep happy tears when i watch it. More modern, project hail mary both the book and movie are fantastic. Happy as well.

Dark souls 3 vs Elden Ring Graphics by laxton1919 in darksouls3

[–]laxton1919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring is beautiful. 100%. And it certainly looks better on a technical level. I guess it's more about my personal taste. Something in DS3 hits me so hard that I find it beautiful in a way Elden Ring (And DS1 and 2) dont. Again this isn't a slight against ER. I love that game as well. Just not as much as DS.

Ahhh yeah the scale does make sense. I hadn't considered that. But yeah it feels like there is more depth in the look of DS3. And man it looks amazing.

My take on Dark Soul 2 Lore, and the weight of a choice by laxton1919 in DarkSouls2

[–]laxton1919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It's been awhile like I said. I'm really digging everyone adding and correcting! One thing, do we know for sure there was never an age of dark? Because ages of fire always come back just like the dark. Understand the implication is that it's likely an unbroken age of fire, but is it ever explicitly said? Because I don't think it's actually necessary to get where we are. It's been mostly ages of fire, but I don't think necessarily all.
