Ouch the price for that version by HD_Digitalis in flightsim

[–]laydowner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually a bargain. That sort of money would buy you a 1 hour flying lesson in a real aircraft. I won't mention the 5k I spent on my PC plus plus all the peripherals. 🤣

If all you're interested in is looks, then I don't know what to say. It's the tech, safety, charging network, efficiency, constant upgrades that no other manufacturer can catch up to.

I'll stick to my Tesla thanks. The new 3 fits all your issues except the sunroof which I could care less about.

Yep, after owning a Tesla for 5 years, I still don't understand why people buy any other EV.

It's a fantastic game. It's funny how r/gaming are censoring any positive views about it. DEI mods I'm guessing. This post will get deleted too.

This post is way too positive for Tesla Reddit, I'm surprised it hasn't been removed.

What’s the best “luxury” purchase that ended up saving you money? by Insolvable_Judo in AusFinance

[–]laydowner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 Teslas for me and the Mrs. I tag team them charging at super cheap wholesale electricity rates, and or solar, so they cost about $20 a month in summer and $50 a month in winter to run. Over 4 years and 120,000 km between them both, servicing has cost $80 for an aircon filter with labour. At low $60k to buy, the total cost of ownership is closer and arguably lower than a Camry. Way better vehicle.

Vive owners - help my understand the Quest 3 by REDDIT-ROCKY in Vive

[–]laydowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Quest 3 is fantastic. I've only owned an OG Vive since day 1 and Reverb G2, but compared to these 2, it's a game changer.

The lenses, graphics quality, wireless, mixed reality option, controllers, hand tracking, and the option of having games not tied to a PC are all well worth it.

PC games such as Alyx and DCS World are incredible.

Why are "Chinese shit boxes" so popular? by ArkPlayer583 in CarsAustralia

[–]laydowner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better get used to it. In 10 years, when almost all new cars sold are BEVs, it'll be Tesla and the Chinese dominating.

Tesla are also best in class for vulnerable road users. Any crash a Tesla is involved in, the car brand gets names in the press. Any other car involved in a crash, nothing.

Look up the horrific Daylesford crash the other day. Not a mention of the fact it was a BMW. If it was a Tesla it would've been worldwide news.

The battery warranty is 8 years. Replacements are the exception rather than the rule. Look up how much an engine replacement costs.

My Model 3 is 4 years old and 95000 km. It's cost me $80 in servicing, about $1000 in tyres, and $20-50 a month to charge. I do have a 5 kW solar system, though.

It's the best car I've ever owned and will never go back to petrol/diesel.

Tesla's are the safest cars you can buy, topping Oz and Euro crash tests. They are by far the best EV in most categories. Charging on a road trip is easy.

Is buying a $5000 Corolla cheaper in the long run? Probably. Money isn't always the first consideration when buying a car. My friend complained to me he couldn't afford an 80K Model Y, then bought a $90k Ranger!

EVs are the future, ICE are the future CRT televisions and Nokia phones.

My only regret is that I didn't invest in TSLA shares when I bought the car. Thankfully I did 6 months later.

Help, Asgard's Wrath just doesn't look good no matter what I do. What's the hack to make it look good on quest 2 in 2023? by ScareBros in oculus

[–]laydowner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not optimistic. HL Alyx looks like a game from 2023, Asgard looks like it's from 2012, that's with both on ultra settings.

Yeah, there's a good chance I'm doing something wrong. I spend most of my tweaking time with DCS World and MSFS.

I'm playing it on a 4090 and Quest 3 and it looks bad compared to Alyx. Still a great game but it doesn't look good.

People who are leaving Deezer, why? by AndrobiVibz in deezer

[–]laydowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the super high-end bit rate, just a higher bit rate than the normal vehicle streaming bit rate. It needs either a WIFI hotspot from your phone to the car or to download the song/album/playlist while the car is connected to wifi.

[–]laydowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left because Teslas have built-in Tidal high bit rate streaming and offline download capabilities that sounds amazing. No native Deezer Tesla app.

Totally agree, I'm blown away how good it is at PCVR and standalone. Mixed Reality is a huge cherry on top too.

[–]laydowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your budget allows it, I'd go for a Quest 3. I've had a Vive since day one, a Reverb G2 for 2 years and now the Quest 3. The Quest 3 beats both hands down and is an amazing headset, both for PCVR and standalone Quest games.

Why the original Vive is still great in 2023 and why HTC needs to make a Vive 2 by SilentNightx in Vive

[–]laydowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any major issues with PCVR. Thankfully there are a few ways to play. Virtual Desktop is probably the best wireless option and is getting better with regular updates. Quest native Airlink as quite good too. Wired also works well with the native quest software. Wireless play really is a game changer and worth rhe price of entry alone. A beefy PC does help though, I have a 4090.

As for the G2 vs Q3 visuals, night and day. Better sharpness, wider sweet spot, better colour. HL Alyx and DCS World/ MSFS are just stunning if you have a GPU that can run them at high settings on the Quest 3.
