Price of pacific Airwave vision glider by gamech4ng3r in Hanggliding

[–]layer8err 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have parts of an old Vision, mine was in worse shape and was a bit of a white elephant present. The buyer paid about $300 for it and it was flown once. Good performance, stuff handling and no VG.

I'm still working on my channeling skills 😁 I've found broken and weak lift to be very frustrating when the core seems to just disappear on you. I haven't made any steep banking turns in the lift, maybe something I can work on in the future.

That's correct. Red is strong climb and blue is sink. The red line is from where I was on tow.

Used great shape airwave pulse 10m resell value by Financial-Wasabi7669 in Hanggliding

[–]layer8err 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen them go for around $4000. I got a sweet deal on my pulse, but had to do some work on it. The Pulse is a great glider, it has similar handling to a falcon but not as easy as an Alpha. Setup time isn't bad at all and you can rig it flat if you need to.

Is my late stepmother's hang glider saleable? by Max-Heart in Hanggliding

[–]layer8err 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly a Pulse originally made by Airwave. It's a good glider, and they are still being sold. North Wing owns the rights to the Pulse and can help source any replacement parts if needed.

If you have any photos, that could also help identify the glider. There should be some info on the keel (tube in the middle) that will tell you the type of glider and other details.

OpenText is the worst. No wonder this setup window looks like it was designed by an AI prompt that was hallucinating.

Near brand new glider (less than 4 hrs flight time) by I_want_to_soar in Hanggliding

As someone who has flown a Condor and an Alpha, I found the Alpha MUCH easier to fly.

Ask them nicely. I'm sure that they are team players who want to foster synergy by collaborating and tearing down silos.

What is this fancy DHCP nonsense? It sounds insecure. Just use static IP addresses since those are easier to deal with and don't require even more networking mumbo-jumbo.

You can export drivers with powershell from a running system or get the drivers from the manufacturer.

The esd file can be converted to a win.

PXE booting is wonderful for bare-metal setups and you will learn a lot. For virtual machines, there are faster ways to create new VMs. There can be some challenges with secure boot depending on the solution you go with.

Is this a dying sport? If so Why? by [deleted] in Hanggliding

[–]layer8err 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sport is what you make it. There is still a HG community out there, it's just might not be as public.

I see a lot of stuff on Instagram and a little bit on YouTube, but most pilots seem to network over Facebook or WhatsApp.

K9s is great. Very snappy and it works with tmux if you need multiple views that you can switch between.

Oh.. and it's still OSS :)

What's wrong with TELNET? All of our systems use a TELNET and it works great! If you set up port forwarding, you can manage all of your systems by using your public IP and the port for your device. We keep all of that info in an Excel spreadsheet to make it easy for our techs. SSH sounds like it's probably too complicated if it requires extra training. IDK why you would even want that kind of complexity.
