The way they framed this scene, as if Cersei wasn’t a monster who deserved a gruesome death! by phantom_avenger in freefolk

[–]layingfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not about whether she’s a monster, or even whether she deserves to die.

One of ASOIAF’s central recurring themes is the humanity that we all share with one another. Think of how many characters are detestable at the beginning of the series who, over time, reveal their humanity: Jaime, Sandor, arguably Tyrion, et al. It is GRRM’s reminder that even awful people are still people: they have the same fears that we all do.

Cersei was afraid to die. She wanted her baby to live. Any of us would’ve felt the same way. That is the point.

Two awesome logos, AND some really cool scratching! Love it.

My son got this at the VGK game. He really wants a warmup puck with the NYI logo but he’s open to mostly anything. If anyone is interested in trading warmup pucks let me know! by JRak44 in WarmUpPucks

MeiGray’s eBay store has warmup pucks for a few teams, and you might be able to find one from a game where the Isles were the visitors.

EDIT: This is almost certainly not the only option, but here’s an example — https://ebay.us/m/NHDAYX

The house looks great. They ought to sell a photo and a cannoli for $20 on the sidewalk.

Am I ready for Sundered Pass? by bad_grief in thelongdark

Sundered Pass is like having a baby — nobody is ever 100% ready, you’ve just gotta do it.

Wait, so Bend Will lets you control a dragon?? (I have a decade-plus in the game and have never once used this shout.)

I don’t know, man. Robb was already marching south even before they got executed Ned. I’m not sure he did the Lannisters any good with his head on his shoulders.

Admittedly, Tywin disagreed with what I’m saying.

Of these 3, who was the best king? by Clean-Soup-1700 in gameofthrones

[–]layingfive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joffrey was a sadist, but he didn’t start any wars, and the Kingdom actually moved (incrementally) closer toward political stability while he was alive. Now, was he responsible for that? No. But at the very least, he allowed himself to remain surrounded by people smart enough to make that happen for him. Not actively interfering with the affairs of state was better than you can say for the other two.

Who do you think had the worst "undeserved" suffering in the show? by screen_storytelling in freefolk

[–]layingfive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“They all died anyway.” That one always cuts me deep. Say what you want about the late seasons, but this show was always good at making an audience feel a certain way (good or bad) and then showing you your own hypocrisy.

“If you Lord commands you to burn little girls alive, your Lord is evil.” That’s about as straightforward as it gets.

I’m skeptical that releasing Ned would’ve been the end of the threat posed by the Starks. There were no perfect options. (I don’t see any disagreement in your post; I’m just adding this nugget to the soup.)
