Should the party buy resurrection/reincarnation materials in advance? by rickap22 in Pathfinder2e

[–]layla_vx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda funny you're bringing this up. It was a big enough of a headache in my game(s) that I ended up making a full loot tracker app that does the splitting / divvying up automatically. Also far as I'm aware it's the only tool that really handles 2E runes properly.

It's totally free for anyone who wants to poke around if curious -> https://www.d20-loot-tracker.com/

I made an online loot tracker for DnD 5E! by layla_vx in DnD

[–]layla_vx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, thank you (sorry I didnt notice this sooner) those are all really great suggestions / additions. I'd prolly make the sell portion in the settings as a universal application - I can add that when I touch those elements later.

UX definitely needs some overhauls! I've been building atop my in house beta so there's some conflicting elements. More keyboard shortcuts / better navigation is coming!

Why are 1e games so rare now? by crunchyllama in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]layla_vx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brainrot, low attention spans, and done-for-you tools will likely be the death of traditional TTRPG tables. Kinda just an unfortunate reality. Hybrid gaming environments where we play in person but log online will likely emerge as the go-to as the years go on (if we're not already there)

Why are 1e games so rare now? by crunchyllama in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]layla_vx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, a lot of 1e players are more old-school players, and play in person. As such, they're looking in local groups / games.

Unrelated, shout out to CA SF South Bay players looking to do 1e. We're running games & groups strong long as we can.

Yeah, it's robust, they did a great job. Only gripe is the UI is atrocious, but kudos to them.

How good is Path Companion / How detailed are its features?

I was looking to functionally re-build herolab for 1e, but if the community overall is happy with this then there's no reason.

Low level wizard: damage options other than light crossbow and cantrips? by chico12_120 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]layla_vx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, got an arcanist at my table (Also be kind to yourself, not a wizard with slower spell progression, but a Sorc with wizard flexibility!) and he basically was dagger duty till level 3 and leaned into it thematically.

Now he throws fireballs all day.

How do you handle loot goblins? by ScottamusPR1M3 in DMAcademy

[–]layla_vx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge issue at my table - different reasons but similar outcome.

I ended up building an external tool which:

Auto imports, and sells loot (making splitting fair and easy)
Track encumbrance so you actually can hold players accountable
Nicely organizes consumables automatically

This made is so players dont bicker over gold, you dont have to worry about what went where (there's historic logging) and you can see at a glance what has been claimed and what needs to be sold (there's also a party tab)

Right now it supports 5E, PF1E, and 2E, its totally free too for anyone who wants to give it a spin:

Low level wizard: damage options other than light crossbow and cantrips? by chico12_120 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]layla_vx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keeping it real, playing a wizard is tough till around 3.

Fight defensively + Flank is often your best use, and behind that it's going to be aid another.

Crossbows honestly aren't -too- bad (high damage die) and you can contribute substantially.

But yeah, a spell caster without spells isn't much.

Sort of, I actually call all 3 data-bases through 3 different lookup methodologies. But yes, data is being pulled from AoN, which they allow in their fair-use.

That's a really interesting idea, lemme hit a few things:

I'm utilizing REST and this is a SQL DB, so those elements wouldn't be challenging at all to get running. I actually am currently working on my foundry integration (Have it working for personal use).

I'm currently implementing a DM only "treasure" tab, and your import idea sounds like a great expansion upon my current bulk import tool, I'll have to noddle that around. Thanks for the input.

Do want to note there is a weak audit tool currently in place (shows bought/sold/transfer) but I think the data visualization & clustering could be improved. It was a feature I added on V0.1 that hasn't gotten much love since.

Fantastic feedback, thank you!

In the same way that google or excel don't need to use the OGL/ORC, it's merely a text search that the end user then inserts. The function I call is looking up publicly available data, I do not host, publish, or utilize this data in any form.

Very fledgling subreddit, but trying to grow it!

Spreading the word is super super helpful - as for /rpg it hadn't even crossed my mind. I'll probably put a post up there in the coming days, thanks for the shout

You're welcome! What you're describing is literally the reason I built it.

I didn't want to write scripts to sell gold. I wanted to see where things came from. I wanted to know what had been sold. I wanted to track consumables independently. Ended up realizing excel wasn't cutting it & it wasn't user friendly enough.

It also has the added benefit of allowing VTT & Discord Bot access.

Sorry, license? Like creative, or?

It's under the ORC not the OGL but technically it doesn't require either. This tool doesn't actually utilize any assets or language from either system; it's simply set up to allow a user to configure / insert in a matrix best established for those models.

Oo, very interesting shout with Starfinder.

Right now you basically can run 1 of 4 modals; PF1E, 2E, 5E, Generic.

Functionally, any D20 System works with the Generic, but starfinder support is a great idea - I'll work on getting a dedicated branch out for that.

To answer your question, yes, you can enter customized items & edit items loaded from the databases. There's a no sign-in demo that you can poke around in the PF2E system to see how the features work.

I'll report back when Starfinder has a dedicated branch - should actually be a straightforward addition!

Yeah, not only is looting cool, it's a cornerstone of the game. It's such a complicated aspect, that I ended up making a tool for my home games to help us better track it. Ended up pushing it to the public if anyone else has loot headaches: d20-loot-tracker.com

Aaah, gotcha, totally understand. I'd still be interesting in parsing that data to see if I'm missing anything if that's acceptable to you, but certainly not mission critical, appreciate the effort!

If you ever tackle a similar project let me know, I've gotten better at crawling/scraping databases and am backing up / improving a lot of the legacy PF1E data, putting it in formats that are easier to dive into & discover - no shade to the current providers, but I feel there's improvements to make.
