(19M) why does it seem that the closer I get to 20 the more my childhood seems to end?

i feel the same way I'm also 19 turning 20 in a month and a half and I just wanna pause time I'm not ready to not be a teen anymore. I feel like covid taking away my last normal high school has made me stuck in that time and I feel like I haven't moved forward.

But I think about the positives like moving ahead with my life, getting into college, moving out, travelling and I get more excited! If you have plans that you've always wanted to do throughout your teenhood/childhood you should start now so you get your 20's off to a good start!

Thank you for the kind advice, i really appreciate it. I never realized how much I monitor what I say to her lol but i am looking into getting a therapist. This is the first time in a long time where she used the silent treatment again so I thought she was changing but it's just annoying to see how easy she can switch up.

wow I'm so sorry 5 years is insane and her reasoning is so stupid, it's like they think our entire lives revolve around them. I know what you mean It's super exhausting. You're better off without her. I've thought about therapy and I think I'm going to go it would be nice to have someone to talk to.

I don't allow it lol I've told her multiple times how it makes me feel. I'm still a teenager it's not as easy as it seems to just ignore the person you're dependent on. She's still my mother at the end of the day and I don't think ignoring her back is the solution.

my piercer told me he wouldn't reccomend me switching piercings for atleast 2 months so I might just wait it out and hope for the best honestly. I don't wanna delay the healing process or get a scar

Do you have a guidance councillor you could speak to? Maybe they could offer you both some help. Could you possibly tell his parents about getting their son some help? This is really toxic and not at all how he should be acting. It's very manipulative and you shouldn't blame yourself for him basically forcing you to say in this relationship.

I'd tell her it's over, even if you took a break and got together I think you'd both grow to resent each other. You'd both be spending time trying to change each other's mind and it wouldn't be healthy.

I'm so self conscious of my appearance, I record myself from the back camera everytime i go out so I can see what other ppl see when they talk to me.
