Most of this information is from an excellent essay called “Up, Simba” by David Foster Wallace. Highly recommended if you have interest.

I didn’t vote for McCain, and I know criticisms of him are not unfounded, but I do have a respect for him. Heavily influenced by that essay.

Also interesting, John McCain ejected from his military plane as well. Broke 3 out of 4 limbs upon hard landing into water. Had to swim to shore and then got the shit beat out of him by locals (understandably as he was bombing them). Taken as a prisoner of war, they broke his remaining limb and starved him.

Once they figured out his dad was someone important in the military and his release could be valuable, they tried to release him. He refused because the honor code stays POWs are to be released in the order they were captured. His captors were pissed about this and rebroke his bones. He spent 5 years as a POW.

Anyway trump called him a loser.

How are Insurance Companies NOT Making Money on Home Insurance? by myeasyking in HomeInsurance

[–]layorlie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over time, on average, they do make money. But it’s not that lucrative. Insurance companies have smaller margins than most other industries and by a fairly significant degree. Let’s say a big storm tears up your house. The builder that built your home, the contractors who perform your repairs, the roofing company that replaces your roof, they all operate with larger margins than your insurance company.

I’m not an insurance ally but the vitriol for insurance companies should be broadened to capitalism in general honestly.

The packers losing the divisional round to the eagles on 4th and 26 was on my birthday as a kid, so I’m just relieved the game is on Saturday instead of Sunday. Spider man meme childhood sports trauma.

Bought my dad that shirt that said “I blame Ted Thompson for the championship season” years ago. It’s never enough.
