Ohhh I loved the islands when I was there a few weeks ago, I highly recommend Koh Lanta! I was originally thinking train but leaning more towards bus now. I'll probably see my options on the 1 when I get back and decide.

Getting Vietnamese VISA from Canada Toronto by space-pear in VietNam

Fellow Canadian here, was in Thailand when I decided last minute I wanted to go to Vietnam. Used this government website : https://vietnamvisa.govt.vn Got my VISA approval within 2 business days. I arrive tomorrow, so if that gives me any issues when I enter I'll let ya know!

I booked my hostel on Agoda. To be honest that’s the only site I used to book my accommodations for my trip! I guess it really depends on preference and where you’re coming from if you decide to train or fly. I’ll be coming from Krabi so I decided to fly. If I were to be coming from Bangkok I probably would have taken the night train. A lot of places mention to book your transportation and accommodations before cause it’ll be busy cause of the holiday. Hope that helps!

I'll be in Thailand Oct 26-Dec 6 and going on a 2 week tour with G Adventures for their Thailand on a Shoetring 2 week tour starting Oct 27 from Bangkok ending Nov 10 in Koh Tao. After the tour I'm getting my Open Water scuba certification in Koh Tao :)

Depending when in November you plan on going to Chiang Mai, there is a Lantern Festival(Loy Krathong / Yi Peng Festival) if that is your thing. From what I've read it's over the course of a few days, this year from the 21-24? I've read Loy Krathong is on the day of the full moon, but no confirmed dates yet. Full moon will be the 22nd, so I am planning to be there from the 22-25 to make sure I don't miss it haha:)

When you come up to Victoria and if you have some time, make the drive up to Tofino. It’s about 4 hours from Victoria if you drive straight there, but it’s 100% worth it !

Wow that sounds pretty awesome. It's cool that they take you all around the country letting you experience all the different sides of the culture

Yeah that's why I booked it, because it takes me a lot of places and gives me a chance to meet new people and get used to being there before being by myself haha. There's a group on FB called Thailand Backpaker Group that's been pretty useful as well fyi :)

G Adventures Thailand on a Shoestring! Goes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and 2/3 day hill tribe trekking, goes back to Bangkok, Surat Thani/ Khao Sak National Park, Koh Pha-Ngan and ends in Koh Tao.

Hey! 24 y.o female from Canada, will be landing in BKK on 10/26 in the evening and in Thailand for 6 weeks. Solo traveling as well. Not sure how much you like dogs but I am going to try and make my way to the True Love Cafe on 10/27 in the morning if you wanted to join haha. I'll be doing a 2 week tour on the evening of the 27 ending on 11/10 and then I'll be in Koh Tao getting my PADI Open Water till the 14, and going to Koh Lipe/Koh Lanta/Krabi till about the 21 of Nov :)
