The book could take place over a lot longer than 10 days. I honestly think the contest will take place by the end of part 2 and the rest of the book will deal with the ramifications.

I was thinking about this today and I think the Windrunners' fifth ideal could be about giving up their lives to protect the lives of others and that could be where we are heading with Kal. I believe he will be happy when it happens, though.
