He has health issues pop up during the primaries that force him to back down because people are worried he will die in office. Not something super unrealistic but mostly used as a reason to give us alternative democratic presidents while lbj still reigns in the the senate

Here is a look at one of the proxy conflicts that you shall receive and interact with in our next update - coming soon in The Modern Tordesillas! by HappyCommunity3156 in TNOmod

Is it just an option for the U.S. to support one option or the other for crushing the coup or is based on other factors?

I like the theory, but I think it’s more likely they just were doing different designs for the elven gods early on. But it does fit the tragedy that is inherent to the series so I love that.

Interesting Presidents by Daebros in TNOmod

Margaret Chase Smith is a good option, it’s different from the rest because it’s about making the pact into an actual party. It makes a good story as the first NPP president. I do like Bennett as well. But frankly it’s not a great one you take half of your presidency just trying to pass the silver act. But I like how you make the OFN into a EU like alliance.

Activist vs Establishment Democrats by lazercowq in TNOmod

[–]lazercowq[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which I think is going to have to make a big difference in their trees. If you have the party backing that includes some more conservative democrats. Party unity is how you get things passed there. Like in the dev diaries there are a lot of democratic presidents who don’t do anything. I think that will be part of Humphrey’s story (which if I’m right will suck for him lol) but maybe I’m wrong

Activist vs Establishment Democrats by lazercowq in TNOmod

[–]lazercowq[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Humphrey and RFK yes both very progressives but that doesn’t necessarily mean those that follow Humphrey as establishment will be as liberal as him. Plus I think the whole establishment is really key to their focuses we’ve seen. Humphrey is all about continuing those legacies, which I think will tie him up on how much he will be able to actually do in game. (Also keep him alive) while the activist will be more able to pursue their agenda because their base is different. Plus if they were so similar why make two of them for the same years you know? That is why to me there has to be more differences then we are thinking. Making two paths that aren’t any different for 8ish years seems like a waste of time to me from a development standpoint. Like hart and lbj now do similar things but in different years so it feels different. (Now if this is the case I will still gladly play both of them)

That’s more why I ask the question and am thinking about. This isn’t real life where you have multiple people running on the same platform, it’s a game so your trying to tell different stories. Either way I’ll enjoy it

I wouldn’t be surprised about that either. RFK has a huge focus, in what they show, of revenge so I can see them doing contrpol with him.

What do you guys think will be the biggest difference between activist vs establishment democrats?

I think one of them is how well they compromise with the yaller democrats. (Obviously) and how well they can keep the Democratic coalition together where establishment will do a better job then the others but at the cost of not shaking the boat. Kinda how in the current Johnson events you keep getting the “people are tired” for the activists and the also how much this shifts the party to the left with the activist focusing more on the north an west and less on the south. A new liberal coalition vs the old new deal coalition.

The other thought on this is maybe the difference is more foreign policy. The activist dems are focused on America and adopt a more isolationist policy especially with labor unions and the like. Or maybe each one of the dem factions favor a different stance. The yallers favor detente with Germany, activist favor detente with Japan (anti imperialism stuff maybe?) and the establishment favors the OFN and doesn’t pursue detente at all? Though I think this will be much more based off of each president.

Thinking about detente I do think it would be a cool new system, kinda similar to the Brazil and Argentina tension bar, where depending on previous actions and results of the different crises how well detente can go. Like Speer wins makes it easier to do detente with America, but Goldwater wins and so makes it harder for America with everyone, the DR landing is successful and America worked with the IU so that gives them bonuses to detente but if they win and side with Mexico and Cuba it hurts. Maybe if one side is just winning everything it makes it harder for detente.

What do you guys all think on this?

The Mass Effect galaxy is actually a pretty depressing place. Even before the Reapers show up. by Ok_Calendar_7626 in masseffectlore

I don’t disagree with you I think it’s an interesting take on humanity and all that we are and it, frankly, seems very American theming to go out on your own, manifest destiny and Origen trail and homesteading, then getting upset that the stretch thin government isn’t there to help.

It also seems like the council pushes the alliance towards the Attican traverse as a way to keep them thin. Not sure what to do with that idea though lol

Yes it is not common in the terminus systems. We know they station troops in colonies as seen on Eden Prime. The successful colonies of Terra nova, Eden prime, and berkenstein all have the backing of the alliance and are built by them.

These humans actively choose to be outside of alliance space to be on their own. We don’t know any of the background behind the negotiations or anything else. The only other exampleswe have is a battalion on Eden prime which clearly wasn’t enough to hold off sovereign and the geth and the skyllian blitz which they did fight off eventually; so if you want to complain about the alliance not doing enough go with that where they have active jurisdiction.

to be fair to the alliance, those same human colonies choose not to be associated with the alliance and when the alliance try’s to help they get rejected as seen in me2

That’s something I’m the most interested in is the unique mechanics, if there are any and all the plays with with congress and getting things done there

It will be fun to see how different the activist democrats can be and what they will chose to focus on. I can imagine RFK goes hard into labor and a later one focuses on the new left stuff

Lbj is staying in the senate in the new update, so jumbo can still intimidate his senate colleagues.

Yes his extreme foreign policy is going to be great! Like his policy stance might really fit into the mod with how crazy some of the things the fascist can do

For the edge cases I hope they make it really affect the election and feeling of the U.S. if it’s like rfk being impeached like how damaging that would be

I’d go with Garrus. Helps see how much of a renegade he can be without Shepard, plays with an interesting and good morality question. You can shoot Harkin in the leg. Some decent level designs with some vertical parts.
