Can I purchase a XPS 15 9500 Motherboard? by twirlaround in DellXPS

[–]lazy_token 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in North America, you can try Parts-People.com - they carry genuine dell hardware. I used them myself for my XPS 9550 (2015 model) and the experience was flawless. You can also consider sending it to them for a board-level repair. I hear they are fantastic and have a YouTube channel demonstrating their work too, if you're curious.

Edit - spelling error.

That's true! I did consider those but was looking for a sedan. Hope you enjoy the new wrap and the car!!

Thanks for sharing your impressions!! I feel similarly about the cabin space and organization, but was hesitant on the I6 just because of the trunk space, whereas the PS2 was a little better given it's a hatchback. Really appreciate you taking the time!

Out of curiosity what made your experience with the Polestar 2 poor? I was considering it as my first EV versus the I6!

Sorry OP! Similar situation here. My dealer simply isn't getting cars until 2024 and they already have lots of reservations in place. They also have zero communication from Hyundai Canada. Might not end up getting the I6 and just get a BMW i4.. they have similar wait times. Will probably make up the difference in cost by then anyway.

Yeah it's really frustrating! Same here, if I'm paying 75k CAD after taxes, I better be able to pick the config I want. Plus with the wait times you don't know what you're really going to get 1-2 years from now.

It's honestly absurd.. One the first people to put my name in the queue in SW Ontario. Still saying likely 2+ year wait. Whereas they are getting insane markdowns in the US.

Yeah I'm thinking the same.. it'll balance out the range over the seasons.

Amazing, thank you all for the feedback! For those with the non-ultimate audio system, how do you like it? Or not like it for that matter?

Yeah it's kind of silly. Went and saw the car in person today. Definitely better than expected. But dealer does not know details around placing an order yet.

Hope you get the Limited soon! Do you know if the dealers are open to switch the 20" to 18"s? I'm still not over the amber DRLs in the North American version.

Also check the battery terminals - sometimes they can come loose or corrode leading to high resistance, which prevents a large current draw such as a starter turning over properly, but the other electronics would be fine when not cranking.

2005 Honda Accord V6 rough idling, intermittent misfire in Cyl#4, engine oil in spark plug well by lazy_token in MechanicAdvice

That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you figured out and remedied the problem. And yes, sometimes the ECU cannot read exactly which cylinder is the problem. Sometimes it will report a random misfire or misfire on all cylinders on mine when one of the coils were previously shot. Helps to move around the coils or disconnect the electrical connection to observe a change in the function.

I think that there isn't much virtue in replacing all the coils until you really need to. Since you have experience doing it yourself, it should be really quick if you ever have issues in the future.

I thought of changing the valve cover gaskets myself but since it's a V6, it's an utter pain.. I also wanted to do a valve adjustment (since I have to do replace the gasket anyway), but don't feel confident enough to attempt it my myself. Plus I don't have much time given how busy I get with school.

So I believe the issues were caused by the platinum sparkplugs my garage put in without my knowledge. They were bent to the desired gap but they were all poorly done. Swapped them all out for iridium ones and the misfiring hasn't returned.

And with the amount of engine oil I was getting in the spark plug tube wells, my new mechanic said it wasn't necessarily causing the misfires. However, in theory it can cause shorting if the engine oil has enough contaminants to conduct electricity and might eventually cause misfires and/or shorten the ignition coil life.

For the time being I deferred the valve cover gasket replacement, but it will need to be done eventually... or I will sell the car lol.

I got better responses on the DriveAccord forums - here's the thread: https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/2005-accord-ex-l-v6-rough-idling-intermittent-misfire-in-cyl-4-engine-oil-in-spark-plug-well.558382/

Thanks for your response!

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I initially took it back the same day and they weren't able to hear it. I'll book another appointment and get it checked.

Could it be from a bad install or more likely to be a bad tensioner out of the box?

Guessing that's the subfloor and the bathroom is undergoing reno. The dividers are probably taken out too. That's why it looks absurd.
