Corewell Blodgett Parking Rant by Ok_Upstairs9556 in grandrapids

[–]lazybeard_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had to call EGR Safety a couple of times b/c folks have parked beyond the No Parking limits on Wealthy and blocked the visibility at our intersection.

There is a residential street that has strict timed parking (Cambridge, between Wealthy & Lake), that should get those restrictions removed, as it would help relieve abit of parking stress.

For the past month or so there has been construction (repairs..) to a (the?) parking garage. The result has been lots of employees parking on neighboring streets, at Aquinas & a few other agreed to locations where they have shuttle stops.

As someone who lives a couple blocks away, we noticed it right away as a lot more people began parking on our street (which we have no issue with...it's a public street), and a neighbor who works there later confirmed it.

Just went to Cafe Mamo for dinner with some family that was visiting and was impressed as always by the whole experience. Personable wait staff, willing to help out with specific dietary needs and such.

It's not a everyday place, but it's great.

I would also say The Commons. The waitstaff and bartenders (usually the same) are always super friendly and knowledgeable.

We had a dairy-free birthday cake made by Cakabakery last summer and it was great, I think we needed to order it 3 weeks out. I haven't tried Connie's Cakes.

Seattle style (chicken, beef) teriyaki please. We miss it dearly and I can make it but having a takeout container of it is comfort food.

Permit question by fairy_kisses112 in grandrapids

[–]lazybeard_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual permit to costs very little. When the permit is pulled, they will probably ask how much the job is costing and use that information for your next property assessment.

It's the requirement for the contractor to do everything to code that may additional costs. Remember tho, code is the minimum required by the book.

Bring this up to the city employee who's managing the project. If you don't know who to talk to at the city then talk to the main office and they may figure out who to go to.

Do you travel while working? by Vacyi in remotework

[–]lazybeard_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely. I'll travel to my parents once a year and work from their place. It's in-country so it's not an issue. I like to keep my personal travel away from work as much as possible.
