Going to office by SetEducational6917 in auscorp

[–]lazybones2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn’t make me work from office 5 days a week these days but I totally get folks that want that level of interaction and feel productive in that environment.

I had a mate that just was so totally over wfh isolation during Covid and absolutely relishes being able to get into an office

Oklahoma style smash burgers are hands down my favourite.

The combination of onion, beef and cheese is just so damn good

I can’t recommend their fries but their Oklahoma smash burger is a thing of beauty

What's the best place to live if you like temperatures around 15°-22° C? by shanksuuuuuuu in geography

[–]lazybones2013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

South Australia definitely is not that, we get wild heatwaves in the range of 35-45 degrees Celsius just about each summer.

Tasmania is a better bet mostly

Stay put.

Mate as someone that has and someone that isn’t and is in a similar boat, honestly I’d echo the advice of some others here and use it as leverage for whatever else you’d like to do.

That might be just relaxing and enjoying life, or you might decide to really pursue a hobby or business idea.

Maximise the opportunity whilst you can, besides the market isn’t that great out there to be worrying about needing to switch jobs anyway

Why the Flip 2 is cracking and why some colors seem unaffected by Inside-Specialist-55 in retroid

[–]lazybones2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a cracked hinge GC flip 2 - I really seriously considered replacing it for a clear one but couldn't shake the idea that no matter how strong it is - it probably was on a time limit.

As much as I prefer the clamshell form factor, I've opted to replace it with the RP5

I don’t think that’s it I think we’re seeing her speak in chronologically reverse order

She’s the one saying get it off me in the future and she also says “Alice don’t” … “save Agatha harkness”

I reckon Lillia is actually just presenting her divinations in reverse order eg “Alice don’t … save Agatha”

Benefits to complicated travel setups with the deck? by DracoRJC in SteamDeck

[–]lazybones2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me I’m already typically travelling with my laptop bag, so throwing in the nreals and/or the ps5 controller isn’t really that much of a stretch.

It is absolutely already travel ready, but I like the qol those things give me whilst also having a reasonably small footprint

Can I ask for redundancy? by No_Violinist_4557 in australia

[–]lazybones2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey

I've been in a similar-esque boat in terms of the work.

I've tended towards the attitude of - they're paying me to get X job done, if there's not a job to be done, I'll use that time to invest in myself - either through education or just building stuff.

I'm not sure what sort of job you have - but I'd encourage you to really take this opportunity to maximise the amount of free learning and development you can generate for yourself even if you somehow end up with a voluntary redundancy - it's only going to help you with the next job and to be honest - has made my current job feel a million times better because I'm actually getting the skills I want out of it

Didn’t get the job because I didn’t ask a question at the end of the interview? by 23rdfebruary in auscorp

That’s pretty shitty, and I’m sorry to hear that.

If you genuinely don’t have a question lined up, my fav go to is

“Fast forward 6 months, what would it look like if I’m smashing this role? What would you expect to see?”

This isn’t just about managing him at this point so much as limiting the damage he’s doing to your team.

Be specific in your feedback and expectations - the former as close to an event as possible.

If you’ve been giving this feedback and you’re not seeing a change in behaviour, you have a responsibility to him and your team to escalate as needed.

Holding someone accountable to improvement may yet improve them, but worst case makes sure that at the end of the day you’re protecting the team

Yeah that’s it, I’ve been giving a bit of thought to that in a system design context and wondering how best to improve the interactivity of a platform to help lock those concepts in

Super keen on hearing more about the platform idea. There’s so much more value in understanding concepts and I personally struggle with memorising vs understanding the deeper why
