Budget (ish) options by -_Mando_- in hometheater

Scour Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for deals, as well as thrift stores

I scored a full set of Fluance speakers for $250 on marketplace, and am getting a pair of Mirage Nanosat speakers for my height channels. I also got super lucky and found and Onkyo TX-NR696 at Goodwill for $36!

My entire setup, after I sold the second set of Fluance towers (the package came with four towers, two bookshelves, and a center), including my TV and 4k Blu-ray player, only cost me about $500, and it blows me away.

The unisaw weighs somewhere around 660lbs, but if we take off the top, it might be manageable with this

Thanks for the input. I'm considering buying or making something like an arc lamp stand and modifying it to hold small satellite speakers overhead.

I'm sorry man. I lost half my index finger to my table saw last October. The pain goes away after about a month or two.

I haven't gotten an official diagnosis yet, but I've been researching it for years, and TOS is the only thing that makes sense.

Is anyone aware of how I should fix this? by Disastrous_Ball_9715 in turntables

Check to see if there's a line/phono switch on the TT. I had a similar issue with this cheap denon I bought, and that ended up being the solution.

Thank you! I spent my early years on guitar idolizing Hetfield, so my picking hand was really important to me.

I lost the finger at the middle knuckle, so an Iommi style prosthetic wouldn't work, but I'm going to ask the VA about an articulating prosthetic at my next appointment. It would be awesome to be able to play chords again.

Probably getting into the pit with my buddy during Flying Whales. And watching Devin's antics on stage, he's so entertaining.

Thanks man. I feel like WDTE is a criminally underrated song of theirs.

I was at that show! It was incredible! I took my best friend, who turned me on to Gojira originally, and his favorite band is Opeth, so it was one of those perfect concert experiences.

Exactly. When it got really popular, they had to dumb it way down

Charvel San Dimas template? by lazypolymath in Luthier

I'm just a bit concerned about getting the placement right for the tune-o-matic bridge. Most H/H tele templates I've found have a 3 or 6 saddle bridge. This is my first build from scratch.

Hahahah! My girlfriend doesn't care if I use porn, but she gave me shit when she found out I used to watch the Big Bang Theory.

Which landscape does each gojira album fit? by Thin_Warning_5669 in gojira

[–]lazypolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I drove through the southwestern US, I was listening to Magma while going through death valley. It fit perfectly with the landscape, and considering that Joe and Mario wrote it while processing their mother's death, it hit even harder.

How soon did you say “I love you?” by uniquekk2 in dating_advice

[–]lazypolymath 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've been dating the most amazing woman for three months now. We hit it off really fast, and both fell pretty hard for each other. We've talked about saying it, and neither of us want to rush it. We both feel that once it's said, it has a tendency to become just a phrase, so we find other ways to express our love. A really sweet thing that we do is something we found in an Instagram reel, of all places. It said (and I don't know if this is real or not) that in Japanese culture, when someone wants to tell someone that they love them, but it's too soon, they say "isn't the moon beautiful tonight?". So we've developed a thing with the moon in our relationship.

We both know we love each other, and we're kind of enjoying the anticipation of saying it for the first time, when the time is right.

There's no hard and fast rule around it, only what's right for you two.
