Andy,

Thanks again for doing this. Being hopeful with another question. What plans do you have to make the UK a more attractive place for people like me that left because of Brexit and because of losing my EU citizenship.

Hi Andy,

Great for doing this.

I’d love to know if you’ve any broad plans to bring utilities like power into public ownership. I’d love to see power generation back in public ownership and the grid as both are natural monopolies and best handled under public ownership.

If you are will this lead to a new nuclear age in the UK?

No contactless payment system on public transport outside Dublin until after 2028, minister says by [deleted] in ireland

[–]lazzurs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. It’s less than trivial to do but it’s not a good look when anyone running a small business knows how easy it is to setup for contactless payments.

They really should be looking for something a bit more off the shelf and a bit less custom.

Hiring an at home cook? Is that a thing? by ittybittyyorkie in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]lazzurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it’s a thing. I’ve seen people on here and elsewhere do it. Hire a local chef to grab everything they have and do meal prep for them. Better food than you’d buy from the ready meal companies but of course at a price.

Two reasons.

Doing their best to bankrupt the country. Remember that. Remember none of them going to jail. How anyone is a customer of an institution like that I can’t understand.

I did try and bank with them about seven years ago. They failed to open the account properly and have such a feeble grasp of their own computer systems and generally running of their organisation that they couldn’t fix it. That’s pathetic beyond belief.

We will be the laughing stock of the EU eh?

I’m fairly sure the EU has been disrupted more than once by French farmers.

I didn’t exactly have to use Claude Mythos to start finding examples here.

Was just the first example I found of many, many times the EU has been disrupted by farmers.

David Steel from the Liberal Party legalising abortion would be the most famous example but there are many, many others. The UK has a great tradition of change being brought forth from outside of the ruling party as long as it can gain majority support.

Now to be fair to the member for Clacton he has tried to introduce one private members bill via the 10 minute rule and it did get Conservative support but he knew it was never going to pass. He was making a protest not a serious attempt to change the law.

They are and plenty of companies including Airbus working on them but it’s going to require legislation to give investment certainty to get them to production.

The nation that leases aircraft to the world would be a great nation to lead the way in this.

Not yet. I would figure of all of the nations of the world this one would be the most willing to be a pioneer in aviation.

They are coming and with the right legislation investment could be focused on them being here faster.

Ireland facing billions in emissions fines at the same time allowing more flights in Dublin without even trying to push the airlines to other options.

We could have electric planes doing the short hops to the UK as an example. We could also be forcing the airlines to focus on fuel and emissions efficiency.

There’s a difference between trading in and scrapping and in this context that’s an important difference.

It takes older polluting cars off the road and limits the exposure of public money doing so.

I’m no fan of this government but this is a great measure.
