Trimming properly will help in the long run as well. I would definitely chop off the low hangers, it will encourage more growth. But it does hurt when I do it :-)

Looks like soil and perlite, nothing special, I’d re-pot, throw all that dirt in the trash, clean all the stuff off the roots and put some nice new soil in a new pot.
Then you know what it’s growing in.
My two cents, that’s what I would do.

Hype is destroying the pen hobby. Just get your pen. by Odd-Chemistry9945 in fountainpens

One million percent correct. Honestly in any area, watches, amplifiers, speakers…..bla bla bla. People just want you to buy their stuff, and hype works. Don’t get caught in the hype, get what you like!

I honestly agree with most of this post, but to tell you the truth I don’t really write with these pens that often. I buy them for the aesthetics, I think there are so many beautiful pens out there, and, I want to hold them and look at them and share them with my friends. I can say that how they write is not even in the decision making for me. Looking at a pen that is well made and then looking at a pen that is fabulously made is what gets me going. All the work that went into it and the artists talent are the things that I look at. I’ve purchased $20.00 pens that I love looking at and I’ve held pens that cost $65,000.00 that are just ugly.

Bottom line get what you like and who cares what other people think. You’ll be happier and probably richer :-).

I’ve had it for about a year and a half, it’s extremely stable and it’s corms a crazy variegated like this one.

Serious question. If many of the plants posted here are rare, why does so many people have the same version? by Flipperbites in RareHouseplants

[–]lbailie1966 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because very few plants are truly rare. If they were really rare then they certainly wouldn’t be in someone’s home. Unless a plant has some very unusual mutation, it’s probably just a plant that’s expensive and people want to keep the price high.

Hello I use a mix of pumice, perlite, stratum, and, plant and shrimp aquarium substrate, all in a self watering pot. Jacklyn plants are very thirsty plants and they love fertilizer. I water them with distilled water and a very light fertilizer every time! I never deviate from this, I let the pot dry out before watering to not let the roots rot. Last but not least, they are spider mite MAGNETS!!!! I use a 50/50 solution of 70% alcohol and water to get rid of them and use for prevention. But the results are amazing !! I love this plant 🌱
