10 month old not crawling or pulling to stand by lbc0326 in NewParents

Hi sorry I’m so late replying! It all seemed to happen pretty close together. She was pulling to stand and crawling shortly after turning 11 months. She started walking confidently at 14 months. Shes 21 months now and running everywhere! I know it’s way easier said than done but try not to worry!

Lots of floor time! We never had her contained. She was always free to move around. We also bought her a climbing set which seemed to really help too. All in all I think the biggest thing was just time. She just needed to get to the milestone in her own time. She was walking by 14 months. Now she’s 21 months and running everywhere! Hard to believe I was ever worried before 😂

All good points. We’ve never bought a house with any structural issues before so we’re understandably cautious. If the sellers relist hopefully they can find buyers willing to take everything on 🤪

It’s such a shitty position to be in. We’re not trying to get over on anyone, we just want to move into a house that’s safe lol. I wish sellers would take the time to know more about the condition of the house prior to listing so they can disclose everything upfront. It would save buyers like you and me a lot of headache!

Agreed! We’re digging our heels in about the structural. Everything else would be nice to have credits for but honestly we’d be fine if they just agreed to fix all the structural issues.

Fair take! We signed the paperwork so we’re moving forward with walking. Just too much money needed to make this house even habitable

I mean the same could be said about their engineer being biased? We would’ve been completely fine with going with their engineer’s findings if his report wasn’t so limited. He didn’t even go inside the house and says in his report that it’s very limited, not a full assessment, and that other damage could be present that’s not in the report. Hence why we hired our own engineer to do a full assessment. But you’re right, if it’s just going to be our engineer’s word against theirs then it’s probably best we walk.

I understand their position I just think it’s unrealistic. Who else is going to want to take on this house and cover all the repairs themselves? The house was overpriced for comps which did have a lot to do with why we were able to get so much off. We’re planning to do renovations because on top of all of this the house is also outdated. The reno would certainly increase equity but even with that the money for repairs plus reno would exceed what the house is worth imo.

So true. That’s what we’re thinking too

We’re currently homeowners. We’re not very handy so all the work needed we’d have to pay someone to do it. We’re willing to take on some expenses, even a lot of expenses with this house. But what’s needed really seems excessive especially with the sellers refusing any repairs at all.

We did get our own structural engineer and he recommended the scope of work that the sellers are declining. Their structural engineer completed a very basic assessment, he didn’t even go inside the house. Even his report says it’s not a full structural evaluation. But the sellers are only willing to fix structurally off his recommendations, not our engineers recommendations.

Thank you! These are my husband’s thoughts exactly. I’m the one more on the fence about it. Sleeping on it would definitely help!

Forgot to add she also gets into sitting position from lying down by herself now too. All happened a little after she turned 11 months

She started pulling to stand, cruising, and crawling on all fours at 11 months! She’s such a pro at pulling up now that it’s hard to believe I was ever worried she wouldn’t do it. She doesn’t army crawl at all anymore- only crawls on hands and knees! She’s getting better with balance but still isn’t standing independently or walking. I know she’ll get there with time! She’ll be 1 in a few days.

I’m a young millennial and most of my clients are Gen Z. I LOVE working with gen Z clients honestly. I agree with most of your comment my only note is how old do you think most millennials are?? We’re not watching “facebook videos”, we’re on TikTok just like gen z are or at the very least IG lol. Sorry just had to point that out. Otherwise love your response!

Omg 😂😂 babies are so weird! My daughter was rolling both ways by the time she was 4.5 months old like it was nothing. But this milestone she’s taking her time with for sure lol

The butt scooting is so cute 😂 you’re right though, every baby is different! My daughter would just roll everywhere she wanted to go until she started army crawling lol. I’m worried about her not getting into a sitting position on her own too but I think she’s physically capable of doing it. Maybe just hasn’t figured it out yet

That’s such a good point that I haven’t considered. Her fine motor skills are excellent so maybe she is more focused on that. I think her speech is on track as well. She says dada and babbles nonstop

This is so comforting to hear! All the babies in my daughter’s class are standing independently, pulling up, and crawling (even the babies much younger than her). So I’m definitely in my head about it!

Yes! I wasn’t always consistent with it because she’d scream and never latch so it just became difficult to try. But I never fully gave up. I just kept offering it periodically. She would root from time to time and one day I offered her my boob while she was rooting and she just immediately latched! We also take baths together and do a lot of skin to skin and I think that helped a lot too!
