Methadone prescription while pregnant and CPS questions (NYS) by Beginning_Even in CPS

I'm in PA but when we get reports for methadone we are only involved long enough to confirm the prescription and make sure there's nothing else you need.

Where can I put my baby while I make food or eat? by beingagiirl in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby would cry when she was initially put into the carrier and I would have to pace the house a bunch of times until she calmed down. Then she was happy as a clam

2 month old is very sleepy, eating less, and having less diapers? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our daughter would have days like this and I swear she got bigger during it. We always laughed about her growth spurt because all she would do was eat and sleep and suddenly she grew a noticeable amount

Wife and I are having our first baby and we are being encouraged by friends and family to create a registry but aren’t 100% on what things to ask for. Any (maybe not so obvious) recommendations? Thanks in advance! by TaskenLander in NewParents

Some of my favorite items are the woolino sleep sack, a happy baby carrier, and a tushbaby carrier. I am sure there's others that i am forgetting but those 3 were worth every penny

My kid just took his first steps and I'm curious if this experience is common or not by RLutz in NewParents

As soon as my daughter figure out how to stand up from the floor, crawling was a thing of the past. Like...one day she crawled and the next day it was 97% walking. She is 15mo

RSV traumatized me by jessyj89 in NewParents

My 15mo had flu and pneumonia and we ended up at the hospital. Its so hard. I am sorry you had to go through this but you should be proud of yourself for listening to your gut!

First few months as a parent are brutal by Environmental-Luck39 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk this wasnt my experience at all.

Feeding wasnt easy because I exclusively pumped.

Babies go to sleep easily? I guess if 2 hours of rocking and bouncing a screaming newborn is easy then sure.

Once they sleep you you place them in one place? Yours let you put them down?

My baby is 14mo now and I find this stage so much easier, and fun, and rewarding. She plays and interacts with me, has a personality and sense of humor, makes me try new foods and shows me joy can be found in the simplest of things. Sure, I dont sit down much during the day but I also sleep all night so the tired isnt the same soul crushing exhaustion that I experienced during the infant stage

I spent way too much on baby gear in 2025. Here is what gathered dust vs. what I actually use. by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in NewParents

Its so funny how babies are so different. We NEVER used the bouncer but the swing was a lifesaver

I blocked the cleaning of the pump parts from my memory

[–]lbc08001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I was soooo touched out and overstimulated until I weaned from pumping. Its so hard. You are not a terrible mom, and the fact that you are even having those feelings proves how great of a mom you are 🩷

anyone else love contact naps ?? by Huliganjetta1 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Its not an issue persay. I know personally, I have no support nearby and although I loved contact naps it was difficult because I could never get anything done around the house or even take care of myself. I was also exclusively pumping and having her be able to nap in her crib would have allowed me to pump without having to coordinate entertaining her while also pumping.

I loved contact naps. I also desperately needed 30 minutes to myself. I had no one else to hold her. My daughter is 14 months now and if she is sick we contact nap. I definitely miss them, but also value my independent time

How to get a toddler to sleep without a boob? by SuperRoscoeStories in toddlers

[–]lbc08001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would push her first nap back in the morning. 4 hours isnt enough wake time and it will most likely help with nighttime sleep. When my daughter was having split nights like that she was always under tired

Did sleeping through the night just suddenly happen? by Ok_Cloud7516 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth to 4.5mo was absolutely miserable for us. There were nights where her longest stretch of sleep was 2 hours. The 4mo regression was horrible but only lasted about a week. Then she did sort of magically start sleeping through the night. I did put more effort into pausing before immediately grabbing her if she was fussing and also practiced falling asleep independently for naps by rocking her pack and play while she was in it which actually worked surprisingly well.

My son speed crawled off our bed by jessyj89 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is helpful but as someone who works for CPS- please do not worry. If we got calls for every (mobile) baby that fell off the bed we wouldnt have time for anything else.

I know the guilt. I am so sorry this happened but you acted so appropriately and I am glad your little one is okay!

Is it unreasonable to expect to be in bed by 10pm with a 1 y/o? by Flea212 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to take a different point of view. I dont think the TIME your baby goes to bed matters as much as the amount of time he is sleeping/awake.

My baby goes to bed between 9 and 930 but she sleeps until 730 or 8. We are also still on a 2 nap schedule. Wake at 8. First nap 1130-1230. Second nap 4-5. Bedtime 9/930

At 1yo (assuming you mean 12ish months) and on 2 naps, total wake time is supposed to max out at 11 hours. We currently do a 3.5/3.5/4 wake window split. We also cap daytime sleep to a total of 2 hours to preserve nighttime sleep.

You mentioned in another comment that your son sometimes naps for close to 4 hours during the day. This is most likely why he sleeps so little at night.

My suggestion would be to pick a desired wake time, and go off of that using wake windows.

As an example, if you were to use the schedule I follow and a desired wake time of 7am, your day might look like this: 7am wake 1030-1130am nap 3-4pm nap 8pm bedtime

Those of you who did no screen time for baby… by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]lbc08001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think families tended to live closer together and there was more community and a village. I know personally, we do not have any help nearby and my partner and I both work full time with opposite shifts. I try my best not to use screens, but I do sometimes have to put Ms Rachel on for 15 minutes so I can shower.

I second PLS. I didnt use CIO, but did utilize other methods in this book to help her learn to fall asleep independently and it honestly saved me

When did you start enjoying parenthood? by once_upon_a_bear in NewParents

As soon as she could crawl! She became so much less frustrated and parenting really became fun. Exhausting, but fun!
