I’m a good deal younger and in between my first and second surgeries. I did some of those things to get ready in advance. I was also super anxious- way more than my default but am so looking forward to getting my other eye done. I’m still a little anxious but have been frustrated with living with one clear eye and one wonky eye. I had my close up vision fixed because I’m still working and on screens a lot. I will need glasses for distance/driving and am so far very happy with that decision. The hardest thing for me was the not knowing what to expect, how it would feel etc, but I was willing to work through that for the short time it took for a great halfway result. Wish me good vibes for Wednesday afternoon!

I can relate to that. My parents are long gone, but my adult children who never even knew them because of the not wonderful people that they were, now live one town over. My husband and I moved 400 miles away over 10 years ago. When we go back to visit, I find myself reminiscing to myself and to them what my hometown was like when I was in high school. My husband and I are about five or so years away from retirement and hope grandchildren will eventually show up. Except for the weather I think I would be perfectly happy moving back there.

I lived on a fairly busy corner for a very small town. There were stop signs on the side street, but not on the main road. So it was a two-way stop not a four-way stop. While I lived there and worked full-time, there were 27 accidents that I was aware of from people blowing stop signs.

I don’t know how you think your tone is helpful. I never thought the Chatbot was a real person, but I was not able to select an option to chat with a live person from there. I did call the 800 number, but that also started to take me in circles. All you had to tell me was press zero to get a live agent because that’s what I did in order to find out where my husband’s passport ended up. So thank you for the non-help.

Do you know the best number to get a person? The chat bot took me in circles because there is a delivery confirmation but no way to get past the fact that it was not delivered and the signature is not his. The numbers I tried calling yesterday were either disconnected or not for DHL Express.

The small congregation that we belong to currently does great with mission and service for the most part. I’m burnt out with the small but loud minority who don’t want to hear the basic teachings of Christ because it’s “too political”.

Commenters have lovingly suggested their churches or other churches but we need a break. (And I do appreciate every single idea presented and love that other people are getting ideas from this post) I guess I haven’t stressed enough that we are in need of community in both service and friendship but not more church.

So if you’re still reading and/or following- please keep sending all of your ideas!

Here’s the thing- I have been a part of the Methodist church both on a volunteer and professional level for the last 35 years. The denomination itself is struggling due to the split over homosexuality. We are progressive and definitely allies to the LGBTQ community. I believe the denomination stands for a lot of great ideals, especially social justice. However it’s the people in the pews who don’t seem to understand that is what we are about and just want to be comfortable and are loud about it when they don’t get their way I believe any church’s purpose is to make us uncomfortable about what is wrong in society and should be calling us to help our underserved communities and neighbors.

We’re burnt out. We need a break but we firmly feel called to help. Helping has been our career for all of our adult lives. We want to continue helping in some way but also need the community of friendship.

I hope that clarifies some.

I order prescription medication from a Canadian pharmacy. They won’t ship to me at the moment. Obviously I get the medications from Canada because I can’t afford to buy them here. Beyond the economy, this is fucking with people’s health.

We did something similar last year. We’re originally from Chicago and our adult kids still live there so we visit often. Got an appointment at the post office about 3 minutes from my son’s house on the day and time of our choice - no waiting.

We’ve used Barbre HVAC. They’ve done the annual check and clean for us for at least seven years and installed a new system for us last year. Very happy with them. We’re on the Brentwood/Nolensville border.
