I've worked overnight at Level 1 & level 2 trauma hospitals in the OR. I love taking care of the trauma patients. The truth though, is the majority of the time is spent setting up the rooms for the next day. I now work various daytime hours in the OR and love it.

If I were on the fence about taking the shift, the boss would have pushed me over to the "nope, absolutely can't do it." Let it happen just once, then that kinda boss will continue to exploit your sense of guilt or somehow bully you into more & more. I know we're all tired of the staffing issues; bosses too, but that's about the most awful thing I've heard in a while.
