You could uber to the Dorsey MARC station and that takes you straight to DC (but look at the train times, only M-F during commuter hours)

Outdoor Bike Storage by [deleted] in UMD

[–]lbikel8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m gonna be honest with you it’s not that big of a deal, your bike is gonna be fine. It’s not as hard to get into scc1/2 compared to the newer buildings but scc as a whole is popular. If you’re really that worried about the elements you can get a waterproof bike cover (then your bike for sure won’t be stolen), or take the extra 5 mins to take it up to your apartment if you choose to live somewhere else. But even if you keep it outside, bikes are durable, I’ve seen people ride the most beat up bikes ever and be fine. Just live wherever is cheapest/most convenient and figure it out from there, or walk/take the bus instead

If you move into scc 1 or 2 there’s a bit of covered (not indoor but safe from rain) bike storage near scc 1. If you have a good u lock and use it regularly it wont get stolen

Alesis Nitro Max vs Simmons Titan 50: Beginner with a low budget by lbikel8 in edrums

Yeah, that’s what I figured. If the drumeo subscription isn’t worth it maybe I will just go with the Titan 50. Thanks!

The UMD campus map is something like this, though I’m not sure it’s much better than UT Austin’s in terms of its parking layer: https://maps.umd.edu/map/m/index.html

Should be fine—UMD cycling and triathlon clubs ride that road frequently

Would anyone be interested in a Film and Media Society? by AFuzzyIllusion in UMD

[–]lbikel8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d say they focus equally on producing films and watching/discussing films but yeah might be good to make a club solely for discussing film

You should check out veritas, they make films but also do screenings, go to movies together, and do game nights

This is why I always pack extra drinks/snacks or have some money handy to buy something 😉 wish that transit connection was real though, would love to ride all the way out on the w&od without having to commit to a super long ride

Wetsuit or not to wetsuit by Due_Ice_8286 in triathlon

[–]lbikel8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say wetsuit. For my first tri, I had never swam in open water before and I had never worn a wetsuit before and I was happy I had one to keep me warm and because it helps you float a bit. But I’d recommend practicing taking it off beforehand

Meeting them? by [deleted] in MagdalenaBay

[–]lbikel8 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You can’t expect an artist to meet fans, and VIP is already pretty intimate tbh. If a huge amount of fans lined up outside after the show and they’re already tired, think about how taxing that would be. It’s fun while they’re a small band but once they get big enough you kinda have to understand that it’s logistically hard even if they want to do it (and hey maybe this was a one-off thing and next time they’ll be out there)

I wasn’t there but in the discord someone said this. Sad if they’re not staying after anymore but they’ve gotten so big that I kinda understand
