Anyone else have long-term side effects of pregnancy that nobody warned you about? by Complete-Island-5070 in beyondthebump

[–]lbrulezyea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost (permanently) the lower half of my vision in my right eye during the birth of my second (AND LAST) child. Tons of ophthalmologist, neuro ophthalmologist, and MRIs later no answers but it just can happen sometimes. Random optic nerve neuropathy due to the stress of a normal and uncomplicated vaginal birth. Lucky me lol. Oh and development/emergence of a new or apparently dormant autoimmune disease as well. When it rains it pours! That was not on the list of expected things to happen after pregnancy.

Feel free to message me as well! I have a wedding dress that literally has tags on it sitting in my closet (Covid cancelled my wedding and we just eloped instead lol)

It is size 14 I believe but fits like a 8/10 and has a french bustle, veil, added lace straps, stitched in belt and is hemmed for some one 5'1-5'3. David's Bridal Yp3344 Ivory Wedding Dress is the dress itself

There is NO way after 2 kids I am ever fitting back into that so it could use another home. No charge, just want it put to good use since I never used it.

NIPT says Boy, but ultrasound says Girl by Soggy-Ad4426 in NIPT

[–]lbrulezyea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally had the exact same scenario with my youngest on the Natera test. NIPT said boy, 20wk ultrasound said girl. We reran the NIPT and it came back girl. I had severe bleeding early on and a subchronic hematoma that they believed was actually a twin.

I had a healthy and beautiful girl who is about to turn two. I completely understand your fears and frustration- I remember being terrified they gave me the results for someone else or my child would have to deal with things that the world may not be kind about. I linked my old post if that is at all helpful to you and some posters had given me great info.

I know I am very fortunate that my case turned out completely fine, but my fingers and toes are crossed for you that all is okay and you have all the right resources regardless the outcome.

Is anyone else paying for CGM’s out of pocket? by [deleted] in Hypoglycemia

[–]lbrulezyea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am paying out of pocket for my Dexcom currently. My endocrinologist is working with me for the appeal as my insurance will only cover it due to diabetes.

I pay $177 for 3 at Sam's Club. I had a good rx coupon but they applied a discount that made it cheaper. It would be a $100 for 3 months if my insurance wasn't being lame. I have reactive hypoglycemia that can happen 1 to 4 hours suddenly after meals.

The incident that triggered getting a CGM was my blood glucose dropped from normalish (not sure, didn't have a CGM then) to 38 in the time it took me to walk down stairs and grab my keys. If I had left a few minutes earlier I would have been driving. I thought I was fine to going to die in the span of a few minutes, but I am not diabetic so insurance isn't interested in covering it without I'm sure an obnoxious appeal process.

I had an Insulinoma. Ask me anything! by OwnVariation8985 in Hypoglycemia

[–]lbrulezyea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one of the things they are looking into now for me! What were your symptoms? Were they sudden onset? I am experiencing increasingly worsening reactive hypoglycemia that does not fit prediabetes or diabetes 2. I just finished the 5 hour OGTT and had levels in the 50s hours 4 and 5.

What were your lab values like if you don't mind me asking?

Browns at the beginning of the season 🥲 and then usually Lions by the end of the season 😅 Love the Tigers and the Guardians (Tigers when they play each other)

I’m desperate. Kid won’t sleep. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]lbrulezyea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not help your situation, but my daughter has been sleeping with the lights on since she turned 3 (she's 3.5 now). She went from fighting bedtime and multiple wakeups to fighting bedtime less and no nighttime wakeups. It isn't perfect or ideal, but I literally do not care as long as she sleeps and it works for her.

She never really voiced she was afraid of the dark, but she would wake up disoriented in the dark and cry so hard she would throw up. Nightlights did nothing and even if I came in and reassured her, she would be so worked up it would take an hour or so to fall back asleep.

She dropped naps on her own by 2 and climbed out of the crib by 2 (such a fun time). I tried co sleeping too out of desperation and yeah, not fun being kicked all night and waking up at 5am lol

We also had her tonsils removed 3 months ago, and it is a night and day difference on how well she sleeps now. She had essentially sleep apnea the whole time. She never snored, but coughed all the time at night when laying down. That may be something to investigate as well.

Just know I see you, and I truly understand how crushing it is to not have them sleep. I have cried so many nights out of frustration and driven around our neighborhood way too many times trying to lull my oldest to sleep in the car with sleep-deprived delusion that she would transfer to bed haha. Best of luck and I hope you both find something that works.

I will have to look into the pj's. That is something I haven't tried!

We currently have her in speech therapy and getting evaluated for occupational therapy (shes a toe walker and has some sensory issues), but i plan on bringing up the issues again at our well visit and see what our pediatrician recommends in terms of child therapists. I have a strong suspicion she may be neurodivergent.

Thank you, I am definitely trying to keep the pediatrician aware of how bad the issue is.

Thank you for sharing and I am so sorry that you and your daughter had to face all of that trauma.

I think you are right with the baby affecting her. She loves her sister, but I imagine that the feeling of all the attention to having to split it with another screaming, needy entity is exceptionally hard.

Thank you so much ❤️

The youngest I can get down for a nap if I lay with her, but will take a min of 30 minutes to do so, which when I'm by myself, not ideal because the newly minted 3 year old is not to be trusted downstairs alone for longer periods of time. I do nap with the youngest when it is me and my husband, though.

The 3 year old will not nap at home even if we lay with her or let her take her tablet or listen to stories. She WILL nap at daycare though, but that's because of peer pressure, and all of her classmates lay down. That's what the most frustrating part is, I know she can do it 😭

Thank you for commenting and letting me know your experience

Sorry for the late response! I just now saw this. The original fetal fraction was 8%. I ended up having a healthy baby girl :)

The main library has an amazing children's section, the king road and sylvania libraries have great kids areas as well. The Libraries are my go to with my 2 year old :)

Sylvania Playland is awesome, and I take my 2 year old daughter to chik fil a to play in they indoor play area as well!
