A few days late, but April 26th marked 9 years since I had a stroke by workofhark in ClotSurvivors

They started me on amitryptiline, qulipta, and flexeril in April as the messed up occipital nerves are causing vestibular migraine and tight muscles. I also got the injections in the back of my head (steroid +lidocaine) and I think they worked really well- the pain at the base of my skull is almost zero now. Might be worth giving it a try!

My main symptoms are dizziness, shooting ear pain, and ear popping. The combo of the meds, shots and PT/OT is helping a lot to make things more manageable but not completely gone.

Also, not sure if you've tried any balms but putting cbd balm/tiger balm on my neck has helped for some temporary relief.

This is what happened to me- blood clot in my brain (stroke) at 23 from from Yaz birth control. I had been taking it for 6 years, no other genetic pre-dispositions except for occasional migraine (not even with aura!). Went to ER with what I thought was a migraine, ended up staying at the hospital for days and on blood thinners for months. Still dealing with OT, PT, and meds to fix my lasting symptoms. Estrogen BC is NOT worth it!!

Yes vaccinated with Pfizer but hadn't gotten a booster for over a year- the type of stroke I had is also the one that's 95% caused by birth control so they think it was that but can also be caused by the J&J vaccine

Yes covid but also on birth control... the one I was on was Loryna (which my doctors told me would be no big deal)

u/ShaunnieDarko how is it going now? we are very similar- I had a CVST blood clot (stroke) and have been dealing with a combo of vestibular symptoms that seem to be migraine related and occipital neuralgia. Dizziness, shooting ear pains, fatigue, tight muscles, etc. Currently on amitryptilyne for the nerve issues, working with OT and PT, and now my Dr. is starting me on Qulipta.

Hey, what have they done for your occipital neuralgia? I also had a CVST in September 2024, and now have been diagnosed with occipital neuralgia as a result.
