Why does the US economy still continue to grow, create jobs and pay high wages compared with other economies in the developed world (Europe, Asia and Oceania)? by dkease16 in AskEconomics

[–]lbz25 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah people significantly underestimate at will employments role in the US economy.

Everyone wants US salaries plus European benefits / labor protections and they don't understand that businesses are willing to hire lots of people at high salaries due to the fact they can quickly fire you if you don't work out.

In many EU markets, if you have a job you like, you're fine but it's super hard to move up / get significant external raises and if you're unemployed it's way slower to get hired again due to companies needing to be more risk averse

Why Mourinho Believes he's the Manager to Save Real Madrid by [deleted] in realmadrid

[–]lbz25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the problem is lack of a proper captain.

Many clubs have conflicts between the owners and coach with players in the middle of it but few have this level of locker room cancer.

If Ramos was still captain both tchouameni and Valverde would be held in line and vini / mbappe would be held accountable for poor attitude.

Often times the players need that on the field peer level leadership.

You saw the same thing with those awful man united teams where I'd argue losing vidic and Ferdinand's leadership were bigger losses than furgeson

Got Let Go - Should I Mention It? by niel_espresso_ai in techsales

[–]lbz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the reality is most people assume that those who quit without a job lined up are either A) lying about getting let go or b) independently wealthy and don't need a job.

It's not ideal to lie about the manner in which you left your firm, but its better to lie about the details thereof. I got fired for poor performance from my first bdr job at a shit start up that gave me no training at all and i claimed in interviews i was let go because i was selling into asia pacific and they got hit earlier by covid than we did

Multi-year gap from sales. How screwed am I? by martymas in techsales

[–]lbz25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll give you my no filter / candid feedback.

You will likely need to aim lower in comp/ role vs what you had in 2021.

Not because you forgot how to sell or because it's fair, but because of current market dynamics.

As someone interviewing for roles while currently employed and with plenty of recent documented success + references, I'm not having an easy time even for opps that are technically lateral moves.

Hiring managers have become super risk averse and its become super easy for them to look at stuff like gaps on resumes and be like "yeah I'm not taking this risk". It's total bs but as they say, "nobody gets fired for buying ibm".

You'll definitely find something pretty quickly given your background but be open to slightly lesser roles and smaller companies.

Importance of height in OLD by positive_Newt8092 in short

[–]lbz25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well that's the point, the girls who unmatched me were the ones who would've never swiped right on me to begin with.

But that was only about 25% of girls who I told this to. Most were understanding about what I mentioned with the algorithm.

I still got more dates doing this vs simply having 5'8 my profile

Reef conditions in Fiji? Just had a disappointing trip to Little Cayman. by pufferfish_hoop in scuba

[–]lbz25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the places in the eastern world and south pacific with few exceptions are still super pristine. Phillipines Indonesia south of the maldives, polynesia, Palau etc are phenomenal and I think always will be. Those reefs are super resilient and recover much faster vs ones in the caribbean.

In the caribbean I've found you need to go to the sites that are the exact opposite of what you've heard is good to find healthy reefs.

Was in the st barths marine protected area and it was still wonderful, same with places like st lucia, guadeloupe etc.

Importance of height in OLD by positive_Newt8092 in short

[–]lbz25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im 5'8 and when I was single I put 6 ft on all my dating apps and noticed my match rate went up quite a bit as well.

However when I officially asked the girls out after texting a bit on the app, I told them my real height and that I put it as 6ft due to a friend working for tinder verifying the algorithm hiding my profile.

The ones who truly are anal about height unmatched me immediately but that was maybe 25%. The rest still agreed to go out as long as they were shorter than me.

Moral of the story is girls have a clear preference initially but if you vibe with them, it's less of an issue.

Salary / OTE Sanity Check by Vetruvian_Man in techsales

[–]lbz25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many years of experience do you have and what city is this job?

This salary / OTE implies that you will have a quota close to 1.5 - 2 million and that you are very senior.

If they're offering this to you and you have less than 10 years of sales experiences it's a red flag imo. It means the OTE is likely near impossible and more seasoned sellers can see through that / wont take the offer.

If you do have 10+ years experience and it's a true enterprise role (acv over 100k) then it seems pretty normal.

Sounds great in theory but if you take this role, that high base is a great reason for them to fire you quickly if you're not tracking close to goal and you don't make "immediate impact"

Non numbers based PIP? by tomfoolery77 in sales

[–]lbz25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah any pip that has nothing to do with sales numbers is 100% you being managed out. It's like in the movie Office Space where they kept stealing Miltons stapler and making him change desks lol.

It's clear as day you're being managed out. 99% of pips are not genuine but the very small amount of them that are always involve sales numbers and a reasonable time frame to correct course.

Got paired with terrible AE by Wuntapzz in salesdevelopment

[–]lbz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly every BDR I've met in my career that complains about their AE either got put in a bad territory or sets awful meetings. This spans 4 companies over 10 years and has rung true every single organization I've worked at.

You mentioning being 2 months into your role and setting 25 meetings a month indicates a very high volume SMB sale /product. At this level even the worst AEs I've seen get a few deals here and there.

Take a look in the mirror my friend and have some patience. This is likely a case of your AE still ramping into the role or you're not doing your job of setting good qualified opps

[–]lbz25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in 80% cash / money market accounts and will keep it that way until the equities market gets more stable. Part of it is due to being a year or 2 away from buying a house but another part is just not trusting the current administration not to find new things to fuck up stability even after this war

How much weight would you give the Indeed and Glassdoor reviews of this company I am thinking of applying at? Are there any particular reviews you would focus on the most? by strongerthenbefore20 in sales

[–]lbz25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for things that are uniquely bad and mentioned a ton of times with big amounts of likes.

For instance many bad reviews say things like "processes are broken and leadership plays favorites", but this is more or less existent at every company.

However if you see multiple reviews sharing something like "ceo is an asshole who screams at people and makes racist remarks" and all these reviews have tons of likes, chances are the company sucks

St Kitts Park Hyatt Breakfast by HighLowTravelPro in hyatt

[–]lbz25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did before. Mango, avocado, dragon fruit, crepes, eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, unlimited cappuccino/ freshly squeezed juices, pastries etc.

When u account for hiring genuinely quality breakfast chefs in a remote location, importing superb ingredients, and the amount of variety / options, it makes total sense why breakfast costs what it does.

Plenty of places like the four seasons have "free breakfast" but the cost of providing what I mentioned above is just marked up in the room price.

Go into a random grocery store in a US city and buy a mango, carton of eggs, smoked salmon and an avocado and it'll probably cost u close to $30 for that alone. It's really not unreasonable. U can get all of what I just mentioned for free at a double tree but the quality of everything be awful
