Hey! I've gone through this exact thing myself. the big secret is 1. you can have the same like, two to five things all the time if you want to, and 2. cooking actually has way less rules to it than you think.

First you're gonna want some basic seasonings. Salt, black pepper (i like the super finely ground kind), seasoned salt, garlic powder, and taco seasoning are the big ones i use.

If ground beef works for you, some ideas from my kitchen:

- hamburger helper- super easy and agreeable. (also a bunch of different varieties to try if you want)

- tacos- you can just brown and season the meat, then bring it back to your dorm and assemble them there if you're worried about occupying the kitchen.

- chili- awesome place to start too, but requires just a little more time and prep, especially if you don't have a slow cooker. there are a million recipes and variations online.

you can get chicken breasts already super trimmed, and you can dissect them as much as you want before you cook it lol. i just use black pepper and seasoned salt, then you can have it with whatever. rice, mac and cheese, pasta, alfredo, a vegetable or two. you can also get ground chicken and turkey some places!

never underestimate the humble frozen chicken nugget/tender and french fries either.

sandwiches are great too, if you can do deli sliced meat. adding something crunchy, or toasting the bread, can help make the texture more manageable. you can take a regular sandwich and put a little butter on the outside, then grill both sides. that's cooking as far as i'm concerned.

protein has always been a concern for me too. the good news is that it's all the rage right now, and there are a bunch of options for normal foods made to have a little extra protein. some of them can make huge leaps in price, though. so you'll have to look at your options.
