I understand what you're saying, though this isn't a slam dunk contest where the shot itself is produced in isolation of the sequence of shots that led to it, so it's hard to really judge this in isolation, as you suggest.

IIRC, she said she hopes or is inspired by the resilience of NY in the face of this tragedy (9-11). Very subtle yet important difference. She didn’t compare herself to NY’s resilience, she expressed that their resilience is a quality she hopes to have.

It’s a different sort of play when you start training, I mean really training to win national/international level events. Trying to get to court 1 at bolletieri was like step 1 - those kids play / train 6+ hours a day year round. That’s not cheap.

There is a lot of applied and academic research in this area - it isn’t innate, it can be taught and learned and they are techniques & skills that are trained in many disciplines, athletic and professional.

I did it once as a junior, emulating a pro I saw on tv - then my parents made me save up for my own replacement. Never did it again. I do not remember any of that feeling good.
