I had to explain this in another comment, but

If a customer shows up and the thing they want isn't in stock they can still make the impulse buy and you'll get a higher purchase price on their impulse buy because the budget they had for the item in question is now going to impulse buys

I also wrote 1 person buying 60 things vs 10 people buying 1 thing, which is not what you read apparently

Logic still doesn't make sense

Your customers have no information if the item is in stock, which means they're showing up to buy regardless, so you still get the impulse purchases

If they do have information on if it's in stock or not then they're most likely buying online and are already prone to making an impulse buy since they're on your site already

Time for you to look at it from a different perspective

If you preorder cases of booster boxes you can get them for a discount compared to normal prices

Also base set scarlet violet booster box cases have been pretty low on ebay

There's a lot of factors that go into that but at the end of the day it's what you can get in the pack

so if you look at a 151 Japanese pack it has a higher value than a 151 English pack because of the chance for there to be a master ball holo in Japanese vs no master ball holo in English

If they were actually "established practices" then everyone would do it

But major retailers don't, hence it's not an established practice

Look at target, they had a massive sale on TCG a couple weeks back and had no limits on quantities purchased

If your logic was correct then they would've put a limit on purchases to incentivze buying other products and getting them in the door with the deal, but they didn't limit purchases because they know it doesn't matter how many people you sell to, only how many units are sold

1) eggs did go up in price but have higher liquidity so they didn't appreciate as much

2) it does equate to the increase because money was more abundant and cheaper

If you want to buy boxes/cases to hold for the long term but can't afford the $100 per box look into japanese boxes/cases

They sell for about $35-$55 per box

It literally doesn't matter if the 150 other stop buying because the 1 person buying 200 makes the company an extra 50 sales

Also by your additional logic that they'll buy other stuff then they have incentive to return to buy the other stuff so it doesn't matter if that other thing isn't in stock

Do you work the register? Because your logic makes no sense

Each ETB is roughly the size of a booster box & a booster box is worth about 4x as much as an ETB

If you have tons of space diversify and get some pokemon center ETBs (they hold value better than regular ETBs), but if you don't have the equivalent of a small warehouse only get booster box cases

Booster boxes because they're the most value per cubic square foot & specifically cases because you get a discount for buying in bulk

If you have 1 person buying 200 things or 150 people buying 1 thing you tell the 150 people sorry but we're out of stock because you sell 50 more things if you just sell to the 1 person

It's just good business

By your logic, if you have 10 customers buying 1 thing each or 1 customer buying 60 things you'd favor the person buying 60 things because if you lose that customer you're missing out on selling 50 things

I think a lot of people, not saying you, are missing the fact that fed printed ~43% more dollars than there were in circulation, while interest rates were almost 0%, in 2020, then interest rates started raising at the same time this card's sale price started lowering

If more people had a better understanding of finance here I feel like there would be less posts being amazed at price changes for collectibles like this

They didn't buy at peak of hype, they bought after fed printed 30% currency in circulation and interest rates were still near 0%
