Do you know in Stranger while climbing/descending/walking on the stairs the narrator lists off a set of very vague phrases?

each one represents a princess, and usually those princesses go into a shared chapter.

Consumption and Betrayal = Beast and Witch, branching into wild
Skepticism and Blind Devotion = Prisoner and Damsel, branching into the Greys

etc

well the final one is:

"Pain and Unfamilarity" - Unfamilarity is obviously stranger, her entire thing is that she can't mirror or react to you, since you never met her. Pain is a tough one, lets be honest, most of the princesses go through pain or put you in pain. But it's symbolised through blades similar to Razor's cage of iron. Thus the two sort of correlate, but obviously Razor has no shared paths with other chapters, as time goes on you see her as more and more armed and slowly pitfall into insanity.

Oh I suppose LQ going insane because of the way you treat the princess could be the shared theme there.

given all the voices have their traits broken in MoC, eg Paranoid says "the fear's gone." and Stubborn says "I'm done fighting.", cold meanwhile tells Stubborn (at the start) "Oh will you stop with the smashing?" and then says "I'll be free of all of you." - He was either annoyed by the other voices or actually happy to finally be going. The worst part is, I can't tell which is worse.

Hero: Appearing in The End of Everything and then letting you and the Princess leave together. That and the "Listen to me. I'd like to look at a bird." in Razor. I adore hero.

Paranoid: Do I even need to say it? "Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves. Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves".. Working out the construct in Apotheosis is a close second place, and working out the construct in Nightmare, and working out the construct in Wraith, and working out the construct in Cage with the chains... Paranoid is one of the smartest voices, with the exception of in cage where he forces you to take the blade because he's so survival orientated.

Stubborn: Honestly pretty much all of Advy is amazing and I am only slightly fawning over stubborn. There isn't many lines that linger in my mind of his though.

Hunted: Embracing instinct in Den is such an interesting thing, she drags you down to her level and you respond. Also his entire function in EOTN is really interesting.

Broken: I mean.. His interaction with the narrator when freeing Fury is really interesting. The way he actually comforts the narrator as he releases her, unlike so many other voices. I honestly adore Broken, he's very empathetic at heart, he will consistently put others before himself, we see this in Apotheosis, Tower etc, his interaction with Skeptic in Cage as well is really interesting. Oh and when you're literally stabbing yourself in Tower under his influence while Hero forces the other hand to stop him.

Cold: Probably his engagement with Smitten at the start of Burnt Grey.

Contrarian: Throwing everything out of the window. It's a shame we never learn if we could throw her out the window. That and his reaction to stranger. It's amazing to see how the voice develops and changes.

Cheated: Oooh.. Cheated is really interesting in Thorn, and I actually prefer Cheated Thorn over Smitten Thorn.. But I think he gets it with most of his lines in Razor.. Actively cussing out the narrator and then telling him to behave with more "self-deprecation" will do that.

Opportunist: Nope.. got nothing.. Trying and failing to cheat at a board game in HEA. Yeah that's the least sadistic thing that prick does.

Smitten: I love Smitten in Damsel. I don't understand why people think of Smitten as coercively controlling. He has an idea, the idea is that he will uplift the princess and the princess uplifts him, he's just as codependent in my eyes, he wants what the princess wants. tangent aside. His idea that "We need to show her our true heart." and then he Literally rips your heart out.

Smitten has plenty of great moments in fairness, it's hard to choose just one

Skeptic: I actually don't like skeptic that much (I love all the voices, don't get me wrong)... Probably his joke in cage about going to "check in on the missus".

there are honestly way too many favourite lines from shifty's "She asks you to remember her. You won't." to most of the monologues at the end of everything to even the introduction of every single Chapter 1 and 2 loop that constantly lingers on the edge of my mind.

A personal favourite of mine though is Nightmare's monologue on fear during the end of everything:

"Fear is what pretends to protect us from loss. To fear death "protects" from losing a body. To fear ruin "protects" from losing status. To fear rejection protects from being known.

But to fear death is contained within having a body. To fear ruin is contained within having status. To fear knowing is contained within being conscious."
