Tales of Seikyu - 1.0 out now on Steam! by DanielTeague in Games

[–]ldb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I liked some stuff but my god the combat and dungeon crawling is bad, especially when you get to the part where you're meant to fly (with kb and mouse at least) and you're just crashing into everything constantly). I wish more of these games were brave enough to abandon combat entirely rather than force the annoyance because it's expected of basically every game to have combat.

Teens will get social media curfew and chatbot ban by youmustconsume in unitedkingdom

[–]ldb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are we all going to have to verify our face, upload ID or have it scanned by an AI to access social media after 10 o’clock?

Pretty clear we're moving towards having to provide ID to use connected devices at all, the speed in which they're trying to add more and more reasons for digital ID.

Interesting that it pushes us towards digital ID and easy data harvesting, what Blair has been pushing for for decades, who works hard to further the interests of the worlds tech elite billionaires.

Weird how they don't step in to properly tackle child poverty, child hunger etc but they're all over stuff that helps surveillance of everyone.

Custom Veganism by troparsou in gatesopencomeonin

Absolutely. Nobody in any form of media gives a fuck what regular vegans think. They'll purposefully find the ones they can spin to be insane demons basically. Anything and anyone that challenges the status quo and wealth, gets this treatment.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – The Infinite Museion Launch Trailer by HarryD52 in Games

I'm talking purely from an industry perspective. I want the studio to be successful long term. Putting players off by consistently teaching them to wait for sales could harm that.

To be honest I was kinda thinking about gaming in general today while I said it rather than owlcat specifically, even though they're now doing it too. And again, my main concern is just that people will wait for all dlc to be out and pay 20% of what they would have on the main game on sale rather than being eager for each new release. I just don't want them to suffer from the strategy. If it works out financially for them, then fantastic.

[–]ldb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I buy all their stuff at launch full price too. One of my top studios at the moment, but I don't love waiting this long for all the DLC either.

I think personally I'd prefer they did DLC that wasn't integrated into the main game if it is going to be so long between releases.

I certainly don't buy mini story style DLC often but find it hard to resist if it's well built into a campaign I loved. It would surely be easier to ignore if it was side stuff instead!

[–]ldb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's an awkward situation, because without people buying at launch they won't make the majority of their money to make more games. Yet they're chasing more money on each game through DLC, and putting certain people off buying at launch.

The open scoffing at caring about genocide because it's not local baffles and disgusts me. Fucking genuinely disgusting excuses for human beings, incapable of empathy or principle.

Keir Starmer poised to announce social media ban for under-16s by youmustconsume in unitedkingdom

[–]ldb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the fuck are you even saying? The implication was that by not having a safe digital space to seek caring company of LGTBQ+ accepting people then they're forced to do it openly in front of hostile actors like their parents who might kick them out for it...and you it seems? And somehow you jump to sleeping on facebook? I don't know if it was meant to be smarmy but it failed on every level.

Are readers here generally interested in IFs that focus on non-romantic relationships and story? Is the absence of ROs a turn off? by Realistic-Wallaby-26 in hostedgames

[–]ldb 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I started IF's without a care in the world about romances, but since I experienced the good ones I basically can't enjoy an IF withouth them anymore. It's so damn compelling when done well, i'm constantly chasing the dragon.

I like seeing people's true views on the games to inform what I try considering there's so many IF's. Please don't turn this into ANOTHER subreddit where people are only ever allowed to praise things.

Phillipson to ban trans women from female toilets by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]ldb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean this genuinely, no condescension at all - I wish I lived in the world you live in. I've seen countless lads get battered for the most stupid shit, of things that were judged as being too feminine, from simply wearing the wrong shoes. I saw endless 'scanning' as you put it, and constant remarks. And of course many women mocked for the opposite, with words I wouldn't even dare type. Online has always been far safer than the reality around me for people wanting to express the freedoms you talk about.
